I happen to know ALOT of filipino people, they are extremely proud. My question to you after read the last 5 entries that you have written, is what are you so angry about?
i am angry sir, because of exactly what you said: that we are a proud people, when in truth we should not be. after more than three hundred years under the wing of colonial oppression all that we have managed to do was a revolution that ended in failure (1898). all that we were able to do is uphold the very same institutions that have kept our ancestors in bondage (ie the ROman Catholic Church, the various regional oligarchies). so that's why i am angry: we are proud when we don't have anything to be proud of. i dont know if that makes sense, but anyway, i hope to have answered your question sufficiently
First of all I'm a ma'am not a sir, lol. Second of all, I think you should be proud to come from a place with such a rich history of great people, of ideals, intelligence, morals and self preservation. Screw what happened over 100 years ago, you come from a place where culture and humanity are coveted by other countries, atleast though all the hell your people have managed to keep and uphold the institutions of thier ancestors. That speaks volumes about the people of the philippines, it speaks to the character and their principles, it's not the wining that makes the people it's the will to fight!
thank you for that observation ma'am. i guess one needs some other voice other than one's own in order to see things objectively. what my writing this was all about is therapeutic in nature. one needs first to realize all the wounds one has suffered in order to find something to cure it. i guess i'm still at that point where i'm still 'checking the damage'. anyway, thank you for your very kind comments.
your welcome and keep writing, I will definitely help. Having others comment will help you as well to understand a different perspective along the way.
