Hello, and good afternoon! I just spent way too much time reading the Newsweek article regarding gay marriage. WOW to say the least. I know this is a very hot button issue and more than likely I will face some harsh reactions to my post.

Disclaimer: These are my own thoughts and feelings regarding the matter, no one else's(unless they agree with me). I do not wish any one any personal hard feelings or wish to discriminate anyone baised on your own personal beliefs, because after all, the issue of the matter is being discriminated against because of personal beliefs and actions... So, please do not discriminate me because of my own beliefs and actions.

That is the link to the article.

I have something pretty simple to say about it honestly. I mean, I, in no way, endorse gay marriage. I do believe that it is discriminating against them by not allowing them to legally have the benefits of traditional marriage (such as insurance, estates etc...) But, from a Christian stand point I do with all of my heart believe that it is a sin. I believe that God thinks it is wrong, just as wrong as having sex before marriage, murder and thousands of other sins...(although He specifically speaks out against sexual sins).

I want to say that although I do not wish to put my own judgement on someone and tell them they will be going to Hell because of their life style choice. That is not my place, and I am not about to cast the first stone.

I do believe, however, that the choices of biblical times are not popular today. God is the Aplpha and the Omega, and what He commands should not have ever gone out of style. Granted, the world has changed and our perception of right and wrong have changed...But, God's commands have not. Albeit, as unpopular as it is to think about obeying your husband, and loving your wife as Jesus loves the church...It is a command, not a request. It is like when your Father told yout to clean your room. You saw that, as a child, as stupid and point less because you were going to mess it up again anyway...But if you did not do it you will be grounded. Well, think of eternal damnation as being grounded.

Unpopular, but not requested...COMMANDED!

You are welcome. I am glad you liked it, I am ready for so much opposition. But, ya know, if people want that for themselves it's whatever, but for me and my family it is not.

Thank you for sharing ... I agree that the commands have 'gone out of style' along with so much more!

Yeah, my Pastor used to Preach (he left our church) about how the teachings of the bible have gone out of style but we as Christians need to remember that it is not a request or a matter of society and what they think is right or wrong, it is what he has commanded us to do. He says those who keep His commands are the righteous and will inherit the kingdom of heaven.

Everyone is so worried about being politically correct.

while they are worrying about being PC, our children are becoming lost in the shuffle, our society has no boundaries and we are all shocked when someone doesnt know right from wrong anymore... I know the word says, humble our selves and pray, sometimes it just feels so overwhelming.

God!!please hear our cries... we pray for a revival in the hearts of man.

Yes, I know. I do not want to seem like I am being stuborn in my beliefs that I refuse to hear and understand the other side of the belief system, but the people of the world are lost because someone said something they did not think was a recent or new idea that should have come from this day in age.

Ya know though, I think that gay people will go to heaven if they believe in Jesus as their Lord & Saviour, but I am unsure of whether or not they will repent for their sins. Doesn't the bible teach that no sin is greater than the other? But, you have to repent of your sins, and if being gay is a sin then most gay people will not repent for it because they don't see it as a sin... I don't know, will probably never know...It is for Him to decide.

you are right about it being His judgement. But I am right there with you in thinking that if someone is gay yet they believe in Jesus as their Lord ( and MANY do!!) because sin is sin, and we all have sins in our lives, no matter how hard we try, but we are covered by the blood, so we can go to Him anytime and repent as you mention. One sin is the same as another as you said... It will be when we meet our maker that all things will be made known.

In the meantime, I choose to extend grace to those that I encounter, and love them where they are. If they are struggling with the sin of homosexuality or if they are struggling with anger issues or overeating or lying.

I am honestly surprised that you have not received a bunch of hate filled responses.  It always amazes me when any one group of people ask for 'acceptance' and 'tolerance' but then refuse to give just that to any one that disagrees with them.

Keep taking a stand.  The majority agree with you.  That is why Proposition 8 passed.

I know right?... But, I really have not received anything crazy yet in response. But, I don't really mind, the word of God is not always popular and the world does not like to hear it.

Well-stated my friend. One of the signs of the times is specifically that powerful influences in society would make evil appear good and good appear evil. Any my, how successfully that paradigm shift has been! By equating the gay marriage movement to the civil rights movement (a good cause, to be sure), anti-marriage advocates have made all who oppose them seem bigoted and evil. Yet, all you have to do is read about the uproar and violence that ensued after the passing of proposition 8 and you know that this bares no resemblance to Dr. King's Civil Rights Movement. You are not a bigot for standing up for marriage as ordained by God.

Thanks. I agree with what you said about making things appear good and evil. The world seems to have flip flopped in a direction I am not sure what is going on... paradigm? Do you listen to Christian music? There is a song about that, says something like 'the paradigm has shifted away..." anyways... Thanks,
