WARNING!!! THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS RIDICULOUS EXAGGERATIONS.

It was horrible -- heinous even!

For the past couple of weeks I've been fighting the worst insomnia ever! (Notice how this entry is already rife with exaggerations.)  I had been fighting sleep all day because I was determined to exhaust myself in order to ensure a decent night's sleep this evening.  As I zombie-walked into the kitchen to make myself a snack, I had forgotten that the husband broke a glass in there this past weekend.  As you can guess, I also forgot to put on shoes before went into the kitchen.  Alas, I stepped on a piece of glass!

I dropped my burrito and hopped into my bedroom so I could operate.  The husband handed me some  tweezers, a magnifying glass and some alcohol pads.  I began the delicate process of extraction, but wouldn't you know it, that teeny, tiny shard of glass would budge! The husband couldn't help me get it out because he's as blind as a bat.  I seriously contemplated calling my sister who is a nurse to come get it out for me, however I would have felt like a jerk because she literally lives 25 minutes away.

Finally, I had to take drastic measures.  I called my husband and asked him to bring me *gasp* a sewing needle and a cigarette lighter, STAT! I sterilized the needle with the lighter, took a deep breath and dug that shittin' assed shard of glass out of my foot.  I bandaged it up (because I decided I didn't need a tourniquet) and elevated it for good measure.

And this, my friends, is how I managed to put off going to the grocery store for another day!

LMFAO at the grocery store comment. Sorry about your foot sweety, that sucks bad! One thing I would have needed is the "husband" to hold my foot steady so I didnt kick, so damn!

I'll use any excuse not to go to the grocery store. I hate going!

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
See, I would rather do the grocery store thing than laundry! But thats just because my washer is broke and I hate going to the laundromat where the creepy old dudes hang out.

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
*shudders* Oh GAWD, the laundromat is horrific!!! I would rather wash my clothes in the bathtub and hang them on a line than go to the laundromat.  It was not one of my fondest memories growing up.

Extreme measures are necessary when trying to avoid the produce aisle. Good work! (glad you're ok!)

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
Geez, you got real problems there gal if you'll go through that much trouble just not to go shopping!  Smiley

What you need are some good roach clips hemostats. www.sportsmansguide.com has a nice field surgical kit for under $20 + shipping (coupon codes are available) which is basically the same kit I carried as a Medic in 'Nam.

I have purchased one and highly recommend it!

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
No problem - it's one of my favorite places to shop!

I've found it's definately worth joining their buyers club... I can honestly say I save enough in purchases over a year to more than pay for the membership fee.

first..I gotta just snicker (a lil' bit) only 'cuz I've had to do this so many times*honey, this kid's a clutz*

but NOW YOU KNOW that you could do the job if you had to

it's one thing to see someone cut a trachea on TV
it's a WHOLE different thing to know that you could do it if you had to

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
I used to get glass stuck in my foot all the time when I was a kid. My grandmother spent a lot of time digging glass out of me and my cousins' feet.  I also used to get splinters a lot! (Ouch!)

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
You jerk! You didn't tell me you had a new bf!

I had to promise my husband that I wouldn't wear my Star Trek costume to the movie premier.

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
How is the new baby?  I remember those days well.  I think I was a zombie-momma for at least a year and a half.

Re: My "Harrowing" Experience
hehe yeah, i also feel like a zombie-momma jake is a lot easier than EJ was in terms of settling but jake only sleeps in 2-3 hour blocks and needs to be fed every 2-4 hours - that's usual with newborns. although i hate it, i'm getting used to the very interrupted sleep.
