Ghettobots?

Well, I went to see Transformers 2, which the kiddo and I were eagerly anticipating.  I can't even say how disappointed I am in this film! The main reason why I am disappointed in this movie is because of the mistrel show, shuckin' and jivin', ghettobot twins shamefully named Mudflap and Skids.  I kid you not, I thought I stepped into the 1930's!  I've seen less racist episodes of Amos and Andy or Steppin' Fetchit.  I swear to God one of the ghettobots had a gold tooth! What's even worse, when Sam asked them if they could read some old symbols they said, "We don't do much readin'".  To be fair most of the autobots couldn't read the symbols because they were ancient symbols, but come on -- couldn't they have said, "No, these symbols are too ancient." or "We don't read this language."?  Doesn't Michael Bay know that this is the year 2009?


In the first Transformers movie, the character Jazz was panned as being as a racist caricature -- he even died after executing a breakdancing move, but I didn't have that much of a problem with him.  He was pretty much depicted that way in the cartoon, however he was also an intelligent, valuable member of the team. These guys were strictly the comic relief. 

The guy who voices "Sponge Bob" is the guy who voiced both of the ghettobot twins.  Some people are asserting that other people wouldn't make such a big deal out of it, if they were voiced by a black actor. I totally disagree! I would be even more pissed if I knew a black actor sold out like that.   The worst thing about those characters is that young people seem to really like them. My daughter kept talking about how funny they were.  I wanted scream.
