Welp, Humberto upgraded to a CAT 1 Hurricane and sailed right past us. We dodged another bullet. I can't say the same for my husband's folks in Port Arthur, TX and Beaumont. They got hit pretty hard.  His nephew called me this morning and told us they still don't have power, but he's glad he doesn't have school.  I told him I was glad my school was cancelled until noon.  That means I don't have to go to my first class. Yippee!

Anyway, I'd like to thank you guys who had us in your thoughts and prayers. *We have three weeks of Hurricane Season left. Let's hope its relatively quiet.

*Crap! According to Sandyquill Hurricane Season now ends on November 30th. That sucks because its been a hot summer which usually means the Gulf of Mexico has warmer water and areas of low pressure. The perfect recipe for large storms.

Re: Dodged Another One
Thanks. One good thing that happens during these hurricanes and tropical storms is that people in our area who have school loans to pay back get a 6 month to a year deferment!

Wow, that's finding a silver lining in a really big, scary cloud!

This is how current I am on things, I didn't even know about the storm until late last night, and I immediately thought of you, glad to know you made it through alright.  Sorry to hear about your husband's family, hope they get back on track soon enough and without too much hassle.

Re: Dodged Another One
Yeah, I hope so, too. They stayed with us during Hurricane Rita for two weeks. They didn't get as much damage to their properties as a lot of other people did in their area.

Re: Dodged Another One
That was my next question...lol...if they were going to stay with you for any length of time?

Re: Dodged Another One
I liked when they stayed with us. They were the perfect guests (other than yourself ) They cooked and cleaned everyday. Our house had never been so clean.

Aw, that's so sweet!  That's great when you actually enjoy your houseguests.

Texas wins the storm count for this year, huh? Good grief.  Glad it passed you by. Hope your husband's family regains power soon!

Three weeks? <smile> Well, here it goes on 'til the end of November...

Re: Dodged Another One
Well technically its supposed to end October first isn't it?  However, with the heat we've been having, I wouldn't be suprised if storms are forming out in the Gulf up until December.  Sheesh!

Re: Dodged Another One
It's been that way as long as I've been here, anyway. lol Of course, that's just since 2004...

Re: Dodged Another One
Really? I thought you've been in Florida longer than that. It doesn't matter, you've seen your fair share of these storms in the short time you've been there.
