Ahh, yes, the ol' "Everyone always overreacts....except for me" thing again.
You've got it.
If women would just stop thinking getting paid less money for the same job is sexist. . .
They're just overreacting!

you are definitely over reacting.
still love ya, but that's my opinion. you can debate my opinion but i'll debate yours.
however, at least we are not cowards. at least we are talking about it.
sure we are shouting about it. and aggrevating each other about it.
but it is a dialogue
and maybe we will both learn something from it.
it's better to have an open dialogue like this then nothing at all. or am i wrong on that?

There's nothing more demeaning than to be told you are overreacting when you feel you feel you have valid reasons for feeling a certain way.
I agree wholeheartedly! I think gals get the brunt of this... you're upset because you're tired, or hungry, or emotional, or *grits teeth* hormonal.
What makes me the craziest is that while this is sometimes true (nothing pushes me over the edge like low blood sugar), its not always true... which is what some people tend to assume.
Talking with Ravager, I think the same is true for issues revolving around race or culture, but I'm having trouble coming up with the corrollary for hunger/tiredness/emotion/hormones...
Argh.

Today Rav and I responded to a post that basically said that blacks were being overly sensitive about that New York Post cartoon. Of course the person who said it is white and grew up in the Northern part to the US. Instead of asking why someone would find the cartoon offensive, he decided HE knew what should and should not be seen as offensive.
I disagree with whoever felt that blacks are being overly sensitive. I agree that the cartoon was at best, in very poor taste. I found it offensive and see it as a throwback to times when racism was considered normal and okay (and moments like these make me wonder if we've actually moved past that time...)
Thank you! Even if you felt like it wasn't racist, how pompous do you have to be to try to tell someone else they are overreacting if they found it offensive. Not only that, but this person proposed to know when something should really be seen as racist.
