After decades, looks like the US is finally going to normalize relations with Cuba. About frickin' time. Something can be accomplished this way, and it can only be positive. The policy of the past several decades hasn't worked. Note to Republicans: You're not dealing with N. Korea here.

Looks like the government is finally waking up and realizing the strategic importance of South and Central America, after years of neglect under Bush.

I'm sure there are some long faces in Beijing, Moscow, and Tehran tonight.

You are right on target.
BULLSEYE!   This should have come about decades ago. I mean, remember Richard M Nixon?  How long ago was it that he normalized relations with China?

WITH CHINA!

What ta hell have we been thinkin' about and doin' to or with Cuba?

Wh...wh...wha...WHAT?

Kin sumwun 'splain this ta me?

Still in pursuit of wisdom, truth, peace and sanity,  David Tecumseh Schmidt

PS: Before the year is out I will be in Cuba to check it about per where I might spend some of my next few years outside of AUSPONA [aka The United States of America].

PPS: Oh, for those who do not know, Cuba is part of The North American Continent. Cubans is AMERICANS!

"About frickin' time" is right!
"About frickin' time" is right when you consider that it was decades ago the Richard Milhouse Nixon [a different fudking Republican loony tune than the Bushies] recognized China as existing?  CHINA! Them Red Chinese Asian Communists, man; ya know?

I do not know about President Barack Obama but I have the intent and conviction to be in Cuba before this year is out as I consider different places to live outside of the sick society that AUSPONA has come to be in the decades since 1959.

That was the year I graduated from Tecumseh High School in Tecumseh, Michigan. Our fifty-year-reunion is this summer.

Sanctions or no on the part of the government of my beloved AUSPONA, I will visit Cuba this year!

Sincerely in pursuit of wisdom. sanity, peace and truth,  David Tecumseh Schmidt

Re: Summit Sense
I am so glad Obama is restoring the respect America once had before we became the "big bully ruler of the world" under Bush.
Obama is a good man and I don't give a flyin flip how  those who disagree feel so don't bother.

Re: Summit Sense
You are so right about that. And it is happening quickly. Americans will no longer have to apologize for their government when they travel to other countries. Under Bush, our hemisphere was ignored, and many countries there turned against the US and snuggled up to China - which is only interested in getting their resources. Pretty sad. We KNOW things will change for the better. Just look at the summit in Trinidad, its amazing how the new administration is being received by other countries.
