There are people out there, who by way of sheer dislogic, do things that piss my off. Society at large is the same way, but it more a product of derivation that anything else. I'll start from the grand #1 on my piss-list this week: the past.

In psychology class, we learned about two concepts: forecasting future behavior from past behavior, and self-fulfilling prophecies. From the get-go, I quickly made the link between these two things, and being the uber-genius that I can be sometimes, I drew a few parallels...

If we believe that the greatest predictor of future behavior is past behavior, wont we make it true by way of that belief? Be treating a criminal like a criminal, and expecting them to be a criminal, won't they go commit more crimes? I know, the human condition being what it is, and with the majority of people not being willing to learn from their pasts, it's a valid assumption. But why perpetuate it?

Teach children more feverently to learn from their mistakes, and take pre-emptive steps to remove people from environments that breed cyclical ill-fate!

"The past is but the past. There is nothing you can do to change it, only build on it."

Want to know who said that? Me, at age 12. Before I totally lost my shit at Churchill and when Girraffe-nuts crazy... I don't point it out to pontificate my genius (well... a little...), I say it because it's true. There is nothing you can do to alter your past. Even if you could travel in time, the universe would account for all of your actions and make them part of the timeline.

Instead, grow on it. Learn from your mistakes, and take pride in your successes. Reverse-engineer your 'lucky moments' and always - ALWAYS - strive to be better.

Secondly... Christians, really? I was talking to my JW friend, and later to my cousin (a missionary), and drawing from my pre-knowledge of the religion, and I quickly came to the conclusion that you're all crazier than me. God made the earth, popped in a few times to check up on us, and then just left.... really? And you people still worship him?

Holy crap. Literally.

Lets go about this logically (and don't tell the Christians, we may get burnt as witches...), an all powerful being engineered not one, but two races of creature to praise him (angels, yes?), then after a few assassinations via lightning strike, giving us ridiculous rules about life, and sending his son like some sort of efficiency expert, he gets bored and walks off.

God has ADD.

Not only does he have ADD, but he's like Jimmy James from that show NewsRadio.

I look at miracles in kind of the way einstien looked at black holes and mathematicians looked Neptune. Sure, the events may have happened, and they are outside of our perception, but there is evident proof that some science or math eventually will show exactly what happened.

If he was there, he's not. It should have been left alone at that. Secondly, if he was real, every one of his party tricks was explained using science. So, what was he? Alien? Fabricaton? Whatever, doesn't matter.

Did you know that for a Jehovah's Witness, a blood transfusion is considered worse than rape and murder combined? Or that they can't vote? (the example there was: 'If you're on vacation somewhere, and you know your country is about to invade, would you commit treason and vote for the president there?') If we all followed their system, we'd be left sitting on our hands, waiting for god and dying of starvation. They honestly think that by voting for a human leader of any sort, they are defying god's will... yet when they vote for a leader within their own ranks, it's an echo of god's will... I'm lost.

Thirdly, military service is great, but it's still a job. I'm glad you chose to go get shot at by angry people, and that every day you put your life on the line, but you realize that through a little enlightened thought, your job is pointless? No one is fighting for freedom anywhere right now. If someone truly wanted it, there are ways - assassination, running away, etc.

The fight our brave boys are fighting right now is a pointless power-show. We can't scare everyone with nukes anymore, so we whip out our Army, wave it around and scream about how it's the biggest on the block. Once England and Japan have robotic boats, our military won't matter. They'll have ships that require 1/100th of what one of ours does - imagine the odds then. If the African Nations decided to band together and pool their aerial power, they'd be formidible. If Israel ever gets off our little leash, they could decimate everyone in a heartbeat.

I have a personal respect for certain military personnel, none of the ones who joined because honestly they have not other choice, but the ones who popped in to get free college and use the system to their advantage, the smart ones who'll be Sergeants a month after going in. Any of the others, I scoff at. As a whole, I think the whole thing needs to be scrapped - they are demanding that by 19, we fill out draft cards, entice young men in with their lies about how they "won't put you on the front lines", and then offer to pay college free.

I know that having a standing army is important, but enough is enough. I have friends who went in to be strategists and radio-techs, etc. and are out there running through the desert, fighting for their lives. Young men, with futures, and lives, and loves, and families, who were lied to and put out there. Argh.

Anyway, that got out of hand...
