.With all this recent thought of communicable diseases, I thought that maybe it was high-time for my yearly health screening... even though I'm about 99.9999(continuing)% sure I'm totally clean.
.Anyway, I decided to make my way to this fabled clinic in D.C. for gay men near Dupont Circle that provides free services.
.It was at least a 5-block walk from the nearest metro with the ground covered in snow and cold rain falling from the sky. It was a long journey. Not a cheap journey. Tourists made fun of my yellow galloshes on the metro. But I made it. I made it there at about 6:12 pm, give or take a few minutes--which is good, since they only open at 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I marched in proudly, feeling I was certainly doing a civic duty and that surely few others would make the trek to the clinic on a day with such horrible weather.
.They had already reached their maximum capacity. No more than a quarter past their opening, they had already received enough people to close their doors to anyone who didn't have a follow-up.
.Really?!? Fifteen minutes after opening, they've already got so many people scurrying to get tested for STDs that they have to close their doors! What is wrong with this world?
