I had to get shots in the sole of my foot years ago before the removal of some particularly aggressive plantar warts. Hands down (no pun intended), that was the MOST PAINFUL place I have ever had to receive a shot...and this from a woman who has had plenty of dental work, two children and two rounds of IVF, so I know of what I speak! I am so sorry, missy.
But you've spurred me on to schedule a podiatrist appt. myself. I had forgotten about that nasty deductible business...may as well take advantage of it in November rather than wait until I am truly miserable AND paying out of pocket in January.

Then surgery is the only option. I hope I didn't wait too long ... I don't want another shot. The foot feels better this morning though!
They did the shot on the top of the foot because they said it would be less painful than in the sole. Ow ow ow.

How is your foot feeling now, a week later? I scheduled my appt. for Friday the 13th...I hope that doesn't turn out to be a bad omen! Even with the orthotics, I am in almost constant pain in my right foot.
I hope they don't want to give me a shot on the spot, because I will have my son with me and he will freak out if I have to get a shot that makes me scream or cry!

The next day, the shot area itself felt a little sore all day but by day's end, the pain that brought me to the doctor in the first place was miraculously gone. The third day, I imagined I could feel the original pain a little bit. Now on the 10th day, there is practically no pain. I do still have a bruise and a hole from the shot itself. I am still wearing gym shoes only and still NOT walking for exercise in the hopes that a solid two weeks off will make the thing disappear completely. I have a follow-up on the 10th!
I am so sorry you are suffering! Tried ibuprofen for some temporary relief? Have you tried icing it on and off? The thing I was surprised at is when I visited the podiatrist was that, despite the horrible daily pain, the doctor COULD NOT get it to hurt when he manipulated it; no amount of mashing the toes together or smashing the ball of my foot hurt. I told them, it hurt more just sitting there untouched on the table than it did when they were "manhandling" it.
I'm sorry I scared you about the cortisone ... but even if your son is with you, don't put it off if that's what they want to do. Just get it over with so you can begin the healing. Keep me posted!!
