The Phils got a huge boost last night from their bench players.   Tomas Perez and Todd Pratt jumped in and gave the team a spark.   Pratt had a career high 5 RBI and led the Phils to a much needed offensive explosion as well as a win.   Not only that, but Brett Myers continued his strong groove with another strong performance.   His ERA in 8 starts this year is 1.63.  You got it, 1.63.

Pratt's done a great job with the staff this year, and any offense he can offer is a plus.   Being a former backup catcher, I know that it's tough to be mentally prepared to catch every 4 or 5 days rather than every day.   Pratt has this down to a science and it's nice to see his fire on the field.

The Phils have to win tonight to keep some momentum going.

So did I, so you're not alone Toot.

I really think the issues boil down to poor application of talent.  There are players on the team who should and have produced more in previous seasons.   Pat Burrell has been streaky,  David Bell appears to be on the downward spiral of his career,  Lieberthal is struggling again.   Basically, to win a division, and a World Series...your team has to be hitting on every cylinder.   It just looks like the Phils aren't hitting on any.

this team has been together for at least 3 years now...they are a major disappointment.

As a Met fan, I'm happy but still perplexed.

If only Pat the Bat can face the Mets everyday.

I was at a Phillie-Met game a week ago and saw the Phillies just not executing at all.  Even Abreau didn't seem to have a clue at the plate.
