So, this weekend was my big Venice trip, and I went with my friends Steph and Carly, and our friend David met us there in the middle. We were supposed to take a train to Barcelona and fly out of the airport there, and our train was at 7am. Steph and I were to meet Carly at the train station, which went off without a hitch, but when we got there, Carly was nowhere to be found. I called her and she answered saying “what time is it?” which I did not take as a good sign. It turns out that she slept right through her alarm, so she didn’t make the train…or the plane. She had to meet us there the next day.
Anyway, while on the plane, Steph and I were laughing because we were realizing what we forgot to pack. I forgot to pack any underwear (I now have 5 fancy pairs of Venetian underpants) and Steph forgot her student card for her train ticket. I said “I forgot my underwear, you forgot your card, and Carly forgot to come.” We decided to take pictures on the plane, like normal tourists, and we made some for Carly too so she wouldn’t feel left out.
On the way back, we stayed the night in Barcelona and our train was the next morning at 8, but we went to the wrong train station and missed our train to Montpellier. Thus, Carly effectively missed two trains this weekend and a plane. What a record. We had to stick around Barcelona for 8 extra hours and some change, so we walked all around the city and had a pretty good time.
All in all, the weekend was quite an adventure. Probably the most adventurous part was this weird sandwich that I ate in Barcelona.
I think it was eggs and potatoes? I don’t know. I’ll try to be on time this weekend when I go to Madrid…and maybe find another one of those sandwiches when I get there.
