On this day in Ancient Rome, the Volturnalia was celebrated. Volturnus was the river god of the Tiber and father of the fountain god Juturna. He was associated with the southeast wind Eurus. Volturnus may have been an Etruscan import. The Volturnus River in  Campania was named for him.
