I was tagged a little while ago to write a list of 6 interesting things about myself. . .last time a tag like this came around I wrote a list of 6 boring things. . .I can't think of anything so I'm going to attempt to write a list of 6 friends. . .not just acquaintances but real friends. . .This shouldn't be too hard because I keep a pretty tight circle and although I may know a lot of people the following are who I consider my true friends even if I don't see most of them all that often:

I have 2 ultra cool girlfriends, (1) Helena is the coolest person ever, coolness oozes out of her pores. . .I have no idea why she likes to hang out with me. The other is (2)Diane, a talented photographer; she is the ultimate cool kid, little miss popularity, built like a supermodel, dresses like one too, heart of gold and again, I have no idea why she likes a dag like me.

I seem to collect Davids. I only have 2 at the moment, but there have been times in my life when I've had eight or nine. My longest running David is the most talented and witty person I know, (3)David Blumenstein. I also have another (4)David who spent the last couple of years mopping up Indonesia after the tsunami and is now working as an aid worker in Africa.

The person I consider my best friend is (5) Kathy. I'm the God Mother of her two children (soon to be three). I don't know how people survive without a Kathy in their lives.

I guess I should mention (6)Mr. Blue. Last year was a difficult one for us but we have been friends for a very long time. People often say a good friend is one who makes you laugh. . .I think it's the other way around, it's someone who you can make laugh. It's nice that someone gets my jokes.

I'm so grateful to have these wonderful people in my life. I miss most of them terribly and as I've mentioned above I don't know why the hell these people like me. I'm the worst type of friend because I tend to cancel engagements at the last minute, I disappear for months at a time, I generally run out of things to say after greetings. . .but still these people have stuck by me for years. I love them all.

While making the slideshow I have realised that I don't have nearly enough photos (at least digital ones) of my friends. . .something I will rectify next time I'm in Melbourne.

What a great twist on the tag-game. Posts like this one show you to be a good friend.

Hey, that you can claim such friends as yours, and that they claim YOU just shows how extraordinary of a woman you are.   You give of yourself even when it's hard for you, even when you don't recognize how you touch others. I bet they'd tell you that.
