You can write like that.  You just have to have another set of eyes read your work.  For some strange reason we can never see our work as it is.   We always look at it through a strange sort of filter.   So... don't throw away items that you are not pleased with.  Just set them aside.  Like wine, they usually get better with time.  Or... later on you'll stumble upon your past work and realize... Hey... i know how to complete this....
