It has been thirty days since my last entry on this blog.

A month of silence for the men who fasted even longer.  Men who denied not just their passions and desires, but their actual needs for living!  Men who willingly stretched the pangs of death as long as possible.  Can you imagine the will and dedication it takes to remain focused upon the task at hand, of killing yourself by not eating?

That others might have Life and Liberty.

Had their fasting started upon the day I started my silence - they would still be fasting.  All of them.  Still.  All that time that has passed between then and now, the starting of my silence until the end of it here, all that time that you have lived your daily routine and forgotten them.  Yes, forgotten them.

And they would still be fasting, and fighting, and slowly dying.

Go back to DrunkenOso 's blog and read about them again.  If they can take the time to refuse every meal unto death, you can take the time to read about them again.  Plant their story in your soul.  Make it a part of you.  A daily reminder each time you pick up a fork and place food in your mouth; that you may exercise the Life and Liberty you have, and use the nourishment of that food, to do what is Right.  Because they refused to eat for the same reason.

That is how we should live our lives.  With the dedication to our purposes that in whatever we are doing were our endeavors to kill us, so be it.  If it is the right Way, and we are commited to doing what is Right, full steam ahead.

Let us build a momument in our hearts to this, to these men, to the walking upon such a Path in such a Way, that we might remember daily how they lived their lives and died, that we might live our lives and truly Live.

With Passion, with Righteousness, with Dedication, with Commitment, with Mercy, with Compassion, with Justice.

With Sacrifice.

Living for others.  Dying for others.  Living a Life of Death to Self for the well-being of Others and for the Purposes of The Right Way.

That is what it takes to live Heroically.  That is what it is to truly Live in Love.

I am not sure what value a small bird's contribution would be, but I know if I peck the Nominate button it will help spread your message.  Done.

I have thought often of those men and am grateful to have learned more about them & their cause than I had known before.  Thanks for that, to you and Oso.

And welcome back, Mr. K

Absolutely!  No point wasting time on what doesn't matter.

Will you tell us what you've been up to for the past month?

Re: Breaking the Fast of Silence
Agreed, again!  No point at'all!

Aside from our very full family schedule, and packing for our move to China?  Spending an inordinate amount of time in reading, studying, and procuring multi-faith texts of mysticism (Islamic, Qabalic, Sikh, Christian, & Buddhist).

Moving at the beginning of the new year, January or February.  We'll be transplanting to Xian, the ancient capital city and the home of the Terra Cotta Warriors.  To begin a new life, in testimony to our Faith and Path, among a people more receptive and open to such a way of living.  To participate in community, and impact with wisdom, the people who will be The Nation of Power, soon, of the 21st century and beyond.  I will be teaching, among other things.

I'm speechless.  How does one come to such a decision?

Re: Breaking the Fast of Silence
The longest I've gone without eating anything is fifteen days (hooray for poverty!) and it sucked so much ass. My guts felt like they were punching me every step I took, so I tip my big black Colorado hat to them fellers that do it until they die, even though I think that they are dumb for doing so...

Re: Breaking the Fast of Silence
Yes, poverty sucketh.  So does an empty belly that wants to be filled.  The longest I've gone on fast is 18 days, and that was an intentional fast where I also drank juice.  Not quite the same.

Some things in life are worth dying for.  But, I believe you already know that in your 'deep places' of thought.  What would you do for your little friend, your 'my guy', if only your death could purchase Life for him?

I thought so...

And that's why they did what they did.  For their brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and fathers, and sons, and daughters.  For their 'My Guy', whoever it happened to be.

I wouldn't intentionally die for him. I would protect him viciously so that he might live, should the need ever arise but I wouldn't throw my life away carelessly...

Re: Breaking the Fast of Silence
That would be giving it away care-fully.

Any man who would not die for the ones that he loves either Loves not or isn't a Man.

Re: Breaking the Fast of Silence
I'm not saying I wouldn't die for the ones I love, just saying that I wouldn't throw my life away for them. I would defend them tooth and nail, with every ounce of my being, but I wouldn't simply starve myself to death to prove some jackassy point.

Re: Breaking the Fast of Silence
I didn't figure you to be one selfish enough to hold onto Life at all costs.  I'm glad I was right.  Only cowards do such a thing.  I have not lived through death and bloodshed to act any way but niggardly towards that ilk, nor to treat posers with anything but contempt.

However, the 'jackassy' points for which they were striking were to be treated humanely, without beatings and torture, and to be given the basic necessities of right & privilege which can be expected for a political prisoner; blankets, bedding, and medicine for their ills.  The few perished as martyrs that the many might reap their labors.  It worked.

And that, my young friend, is far from jackassy when you're the one bearing the ills of such abuse.

    I just refuse martyrdom.
