about Martin day?

I explained to him that Martin was a man who wanted everyone to get along together. I told him that Martin walked a long way to get the people in charge to understand what he wanted, and in the end he was shot for trying to make things better. I told him that even though people don't like it when we try to change bad things in our world, that we shouldn't be scared to say what we think and do what we think will make things better.

Re: what did you teach your child
I pretty much told Jared the same thing.  Which lead to deeper discussions like slavery, the Civil War, and how badly black people were treated even after slavery.  The look of astonishment on his face made me feel happy, in many ways, because he could not understand why any of that should or could have happened.  He asked me why and I couldn't really answer that.  To him, he sees no differences like that in people and can't imagine being mean to someone because they might look a bit different than himself.  I knew at that point that there really WAS hope for the world.  :-)

That's so awesome! I am glad that there are children in the world that will take up the fight for equality and peace.

Re: what did you teach your child
it's about 33 1/2 - 33 - 33 1/2 . Some things change for the better, other things stay the same, and other things get worse. It's the nature of the world.
