Praise our Lord.

The buffoon at the pulpit is Pastor James David Manning of the Atlah World Missionary Church. Now while Pastor Manning may be a colossal douche he does bring up something that I have seen for myself lately.
Namely that some black people, who once saw Bill Clinton as the "1st Black President" and held Hillary in very high regard, now seem to hate the Clinton's with an unexplained passion.
In barber shops, basketball courts, message boards and chat rooms, showing support for Obama isn't enough. No, to truly support Obama means you have to hate Hillary (and Bill by association) all of a sudden.
And what really gets me is that no one I have spoken to can give me a clear reason why they hate Hillary.
It can't be her politics because aside from the difference in gender and race, Obama and Hillary are almost identical politically.
My theory on this is that the specter of race is hanging over this primary, the flames of which are being fanned by the lazy press and sensationalist 24 hour news networks to combine to make people who are already overly sensitive start to see racism in every remark. Any criticism of Obama is now being taken as a direct attack on him as a black man and no matter where the attack is coming from the blame is being pointed squarely at the Clintons.

Re: Obama Got A White Mama
Everything that you said is absolutely correct.  There is a wave coming over this country with blacks that would have otherwise supported Hillary now throwing their support at Obama not because he is a better candidate, but because he is black.  I'm white, but I can only assume that this is because they don't want someone to know that they voteed for a white person when there was a black option.

Everybody is talking about it and now its getting out of hand.  I liked Obama as a candidate but even I had to question what he could do for a white person after I read about the church that he goes to.  (there was a big uprising after I posted a blog about it on my own).  I still like Obama a lot, but I have to catch myself and really think hard about giving my vote to him because I want to make sure that if I'm choosing between Hillary and Obama, its not out of white guilt.  Does that make any sense?  Maybe I just have to justify it in my own head.

The TRUTH IS...I shouldn't have to justify any of it.  If I want to vote for Obama, I should, no matter what color he is.  If he were green, I should vote for him.  If I want to vote for Hillary, I should.  Regardless of the fact that she doesn't have a penis and has the most annoying voice in the world!

I'm going to sum up my blog inside your blog here   Its still great that in America, we have these kind of choices to fight about.  As painful as they may be - we could have an election just like the one in Cuba, where all of the candidates had a guaranteed job after the election.

I'm just disappointed that it has turned into this rancorous situation when there is only a razor thin difference between the two.

And don't get me started on the white guilt thing, I have actually heard some white people say that Clinton and Edwards should step aside or forever be castigated as stopping the dream of America's first black president from coming to fruition.

Re: Obama Got A White Mama
I havent heard that one yet, but I don't doubt it AT ALL.  White guilt can make you do, think, and say a lot of things you shouldn't have to do, think, or say.  I struggle as a white woman living in a black community with the fact that it is OKAY for me to be different.  If i want to like a white candidate, I will.  If I want to question a white candidate, I will.  If I want to like a black candidate, I will.  If I want to question a black candidate, I will.

I wish the presidential race was like that old dating game show.  Where all the candidates were behind a curtain and we just knew that as candidates #1-8.  We didn't know their color and we didn't hear their voices.

.....but *chuckles* you HAVE TO ADMIT...Bill Clinton falling asleep at that church service RIGHT AFTER the whole King/Johnson controversy was really inopportune and HELLarious!

I think the Clintons are damaging themselves with the overpower "double team" and Obama is damaging himself by being bothered by it.

Because its easier to hate on something than have to think for oneself.  I am surprised that after these last years ANYONE would just swallow anything so easily and take it as gospel just because its what what they WANT to hear- but then I'm not too surprised, what with a society and a school system teaching people WHAT to think instead of HOW.

You make a very good point!  Thinking?  Whats that?  I'm so tired of saying what people want to hear or thinking what they want me to think.

Maybe we should be just a little more wary of any message that is too good.

(I think we're just tired of hearing stuff that we don't want to hear.  Because more than likely, its a lie anyways)
