These are some really great phots Kat.
Very nice. Definitely not the kind of country I think of when I think of New York state. Looks more like Tennessee! $4.09 for regular gas? *choke* The highest I've seen down here is $3.85 and I bought it yesterday for $3.75. Guess I'd better enjoy those "low" prices while I can....
Oh I know. You think NY and you think NYC. When we moved here I wasn't expecting a big city, but I certainly wasn't expecting open fields, farm land, and plentiful wild life. Driving down the road it's nothing to see a flock of turkeys, a family of deer, a ground hog, or even a fox. My husband once saw a black bear running toward the road (the bear, not the husband), when he was on his way to work (the husband, not the bear haha).
I live in southeast Tennessee, in a large subdivision out in the county, and we see deer occasionally (even in some front yards), ground hogs, the occasional turkey (I did see a whole flock of them late last year but that was a first), and lots of raccoons and possums dead on the road, and the occasional fox and even beaver (dead on the road, unfortunately). Also unfortunately, we have coyotes around here which have been seen on numerous occasions and are thought to have killed dogs and cats - over the years there have been a number of cats that have simply disappeared from the immediate area around my house - including one of my own cats. I hope something is done about them before a child is hurt or killed - I hear there is a den of them in another part of the county.
Wow, coyotes! State animal control needs to trap and move them.
I forgot to mention the skunks! My husband saw one in our backyard once. After that I have kept large cans of tomato juice on hand. haha
Thanks.
I've always wanted to have at least 25 acres. I don't know how we ended up in town. And wouldn't you know it, I'm the one who picked this house!

I'm shocked at how much country we have around here. When you think of New York you always think of New York City, and it's not like that here at all.
oh i just love the close up of the field grass and the one with the two horses near the red barn! great pics!
Thanks Val.
I've been trying to read and reply to your posts for a couple of days now. Mindsay is not working too well on my end so I have to leave this message where I can... Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. I'm so sorry for your loss.
