Ok, let's try it again. The first part: "Trust in God." If we were to expand it, we could say, "You should trust in God."
The second part, expanded, would say, "You should not trust in luck."

Best of luck for the new year, just think, if you start of the year badly, it can't really get much worse, so in effect you'll have a good year in comparison. I'm not sure if that works, but it sounds good in theory.
