Kids and their birthday cakes. My little girl asked me if we could make Dr. King a birthday cake, too. I think if the weather isn't too bad, I could do that or at least buy a cake. I think its a good way to open up discussion about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and talk about what he wanted for all of us. It's also a good excuse to eat some cake.

LoL, that was a cute talk with your daughter. Much more uplifting than other children are o.o Too consumed with video game playing...and I don't count with that
lol
lolI like this teacher. Kids don't understand what the big deal is. I certainly didn't. Before they begin to socialize into distinct groups, it's unnatural for kids to notice that anybody is different from themselves. Everybody just gets along. Then we spend the rest of our lives trying to undo the trouble caused by growing up and learning how to hate people. The way my mother explains it, I didn't even notice that one of my best friends in first grade was black. It was like having blue eyes or a big nose.
Yes, I totally appreciate the work that my daughter's teacher did, and does on a daily basis. It all starts with our children. Thanks for stopping by and for commenting
Man...what would the world have been like without him? Would someone else have stood up and had that same effect on the world? I remember my mom telling me that when I was young I didn't know one race from the other. At some point I must have figured it out. Here's to keeping them innocent a bit longer.
