I was riding my bike home the other day and not paying attention to where I was going... lost in my own thoughts...

When suddenly I hit something and was sent flying through the air. Fortunately, I didn't break anything, but the left side of my face and parts of my body look like I went 10 rounds with a heavyweight boxer. Not a pretty sight!

Ouch!!

This is becoming more and more commonplace in Atlanta - a city most definitely not equipped for bike riders. They're calling it "The Summer of Splat."

"Weebles wobble but they don't fall down"...but Jim does!   Seriously glad you are okay beyond the bruises, those heal pretty quickly.  I came home from my vacation with no less than 10 bruises on my arms and legs, and one...well never mind that one.  I bruise easily...but heal quickly too.

Re: oops
Biking is dangerous! That's part of why I like it -- city riding is definitely "technical" in the language of professional bicycling. Did you see the guy fall down a mountain in the Alps in the Tour de France?

I came away unhurt in my one bike crash. The reason to wear the helmet is not if one gets hit by a car; it's if you fall down on your head (which is usually one's own fault).

Good recovery, Adam

I personally thought it was funny, but I'm just a sick person like that.

Re: oops
Well, at least one of us did.

What kind of bike were you thinking of getting? BTW, I will definitely buy your helmet...
