Thanks to all who responded to the last question.  So I'm thinking today about the difference between porn and erotica.  My aim in this blog is to dispell some of the "puritanistic" attitudes that still cling to us in our relationships.  Someplace along the way, organized religion declared sex to be evil.  Now they may not have come right out and said that, but that is the result of the heretical behavior tracing back centuries.  I am not a historian or theologeon, by any means, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe in the Bible, Adam was told to go forth and populate the earth.  Sounds like sex to me.  And yet, there is a dark shadow even after the "sexual revolution" of the 60's.  I'm not talking about the vulgar, animalistic, amoral, and destructive behavior depicted on many pay websites and pay channels, but healthy sexual expectations and behavior.  What is the difference between porn and erotica?

I do think there have to be some boundaries in our sexual behavior, but perhaps that boundaries ought to be set only by those involved.  Assuming the participants are old enough to make value judgments (a real stretch sometimes),  sex should be mutually consenual.  What else?  Any other guidelines?

  1. Honest
  2.

What are the reasons for boundaries?  Why should 14 yr olds NOT have sex? or should they?

Re: Porn or Erotica?
Well, most people would probably say that sex at a young age wouldn't always be handled responsibly.  The example for that is too many babies born to girls that are still themselves considered children.  Porn is probably presented more like a graphic peep show and erotica is used to enhance the experience in a softer way.  I never saw a difference between soft porn and erotica.

ok ... good point... I guess I didn't even consider "soft porn", but there really is a difference between hardcore, soft and erotica ... Perhaps I will elaborate soon.  Thanks

I talked to a Federal Judge briefly tonight in the vestible of a restaurant!

J. Hi Frank!

F. Hi judge!

J. How've you been?

F. Reading about you in the paper all the time!

J. What about?

F. You keep putting those pornographes in the pen!

J. (No verbal response.- Just big shit-eating grin)

F. Guess I'll  have to stay away from the internet!

J. Just stay away from certain rooms!

The Difference is what the community you are in decides.  A copy of a Degas Nude once caused neighborhood dissension when a prude neighbor saw it!  I explained to her that as our library had the same picture in an Art Book apparently it was not considered pornographic by OUR  community.

Personally I enjoy both - but think children should not be subjected to pornography !  Because it violates the Community's MORES - Not because there is any scientific proof it does harm !

porn is...hardcore

while erotica is more sensual, with forgiving lighting and actual beautiful people

Re: Porn or Erotica?
To me there's no difference between porn and erotica....I enjoy them both.  Here's my boundries for sexual behavior:

1.  Musn't make any party feel uncomfortable or degraded.

2.  All parties involved must be willing and able to accept the consequences of their actions

3.  Go with your personal instincts and not what society tells you.

4.  Be safe and have fun!

As far as 14 year olds having sex....no it would probably be better if they waited until they were more mature.

Re: Porn or Erotica?
Porn is pictures, something you look at, while erotica is something you read. They're completely different things. And 14 year olds should not have sex because what with puberty and adolescence they're at a mental, emotional and physical disadvantage. Not only that, but 14 year olds can still be very impressionable, and whatever happens during that stage will shape they're lives. I just think it's a bit much to handle.
