Submit to Yearbook, there are prizes there!
That was a lovely entry. Mindsay is pretty darn cool. There are loads of clever and talented people here and it is always a pleasure working with them. Good job.
Thanks! As I mentioned I was thinking of submitting it to yearbook - once the categories finally "flesh out" and all, don't have enough info on that yet... But once I found Headliners I couldn't wait to submit this and then hope it "might" go somewhere if you know what I mean - the timeliness would be lost! Besides it good exercise, ha!ha!

I don't think we're doing anything like that this round, so headliners would probably be your best bet. I kind of wanted to gauge the response and the number of submissions with yearbook first, before getting into any complex contests. Hopefully you'll enter one of the others though!
I'm approaching your yearbook "contest" idea as if it were a writing assignment thrown at me by a publisher who expects miracles! I'll try each category but may not submit in each.... just depends on how I "feel" about the work done... No matter really... just havin' some fun! And you've gotten my curiosity going wondering what you'll come up with next, so that's a okay! Today's entry though doesn't have to go anywhere but right to MindSay itself!
Really enjoyed reading your post - made me feel good about what we're doing here =)
Question though - what do you mean in your 2nd to last paragraph about "blocking"? I don't totally follow and of course want our site to be appealing and easy to sign-up for for non-members.
Appreciate the feedback!

Hey Adam! thanks, I'm glad - you should feel good about it! You, Brian, Members at large and your crew are making some very interesting things happen here!
I've tried to encourage some friends of mine to come by and really give the MindSay site a good look, in particular, with the new Pages feature. Often they'll come by to check either of my blog sites (linked from my website and/or from my signature on two discussion forums.. I am often told, once they get into MindSay they find it hard to figure out how to move around...
A few did sign up long ago, I guess so they can look around but they haven't posted any blogs... and I haven't "seen" them around for a while. I've since listed my page at blogexplosion so they don't even have to sign in to directly view my blog at all and therefore I won't necessarily see them on my listing of visitors...so it's hard to fully define yet...
What if? Here's a Entry Portal design thought; What if, when a non-member views mindsay they got an interface that invites them to "take a tour" and give them some search tools and information to access the MindSay Pages and "ID free" blog sites to get a taste of what's happening here. This should be as an option as part of the message that comes up when they're invited to sign up and start a blog. (Usually comes up when someone's just visiting mindsay and they try to access something else on the page, re: another site or a reply button, etc.).
Hope this makes sense... it's early in the morning and the coffee might not be kickin' in yet! Ha!
This is getting long, sorry... you can e-mail me if this is still defficient information! Ha! and I'd be happy to go further into it...

Yea, still not following =) I lost you right here: "I've since listed my page at blogexplosion so they don't even have to sign in to directly view my blog at all and therefore I won't necessarily see them on my listing of visitors...so it's hard to fully define yet... "
Why do you have to do all that? Can't you just make your blog viewable by non-members in the privacy options under "Customize Design"?
Yes I can.... and I HAD to - to even list at the Explosion... it's not the point though...
It's that people can get in to specific pages but once they try to move form that spot they seem to get lost or are prompted to sign in and start a blog...(no different at other blog places, really)
Y'know... I think it's that learning curve newbies experience, the first few times exploring can be a bit "weird" until you know your way around... understanding the terminology, the interface and methodology to moving around here... Again some sort of open tour might help...
Tell you what - I've been working on a few MindSay pages I've invited my friends to join me in working on them - (actually some of them haven't been "started" yet - I'm still waiting to see if they're "approved")... so once that's sorted out I'll get them to give me the feedback in their own words... might be more interesting for you!
Or - if you want other input - maybe try to get feedback from people who come by "just looking" - if you can "capture" them and get input there....
just a thought...

mindsay seems pretty cool. good for networking and stuff, better than other sites i've been around.
I take it you've been getting yourself familiar with things here, glad you're enjoying the atmosphere! I have another blog (360) I never use, can't be bothered, it doesn't seem as nice, at least for layout and stuff!
Can we encourage some people to get involved & co-create a usful MindSay Mindsay Page with tips and tricks for designing your blog space or working on a Page design? For people less confident about their ability to pull those great layouts off that others do so well at!
Great idea! I've already asked people over on the Web Design MindSay Page... no response yet...
Thanks for the idea - think I'll use it for a blog; "Calling all design experts!" or something....
