The quietness of the morning has now been disrupted by Dave and a friend grinding a mixture of llama poop, horse manure and old hay.  Its loud and its dusty.  And I'm very thankful the breeze is carrying the dust the opposite direction of the house.

Looks to be another beautiful day here.  A day to be outside.  Got some weeding done the other day, it will continue today ..... the never ending job.  I'll try to make it out to the garden for photos today ..... exciting I know.  lol

It seems every time I turn around something is delaying our trip to the river.  The refrigerator is what started this whole trailer revamping.  Buying ice blocks for the old ice box was quite costly and the food was kept cool .... not really cold, ya know?  So with a propane / electric refrigerator we would be stylin'.  But the refrigerator would not fit through the door of the trailer.  But it would fit through a window maybe ..... and the rest is history ..... five new windows, a double sink, a four burner stove / oven combo, a new larger door and of course the refrigerator.  Which ran for two days then went wacko ..... the thermostat went out.  So now we sit and wait for our $110.00 (choked on that one) thermostat to arrive in the mail.

But .... the electrical is all hooked up now .... inside and out, new tail lights and more lights inside.  The insulation is in complete.  I have a nice new closet, albeit small.  A new canned food closet ..... long and narrow w/ slanted shelves.

I will go out in the afternoons and sit in it sometimes ..... staring out the window picturing the scene from the river.  Close my eyes and noise from the cars going down the highway turns into the roaring river.  Open them and reality is in front of me.  The driveway, the house.  The highway.  We will get there.  We will.

Well, that second cup of coffee is calling.  A walk to the garden I think this morning ..... take in some of the cool summer morning air.  But I won't forget the earplugs .... the quietness of the morning disrupted.

And with that I have come full circle.

Happy Fathers Day to you dad's out there.  Happy Sunday to everyone ..... enjoy your day.

Peace.  J.

Re: Quiet Disrupted
YOu'll be there really soon...sounds like the trailer is going to be really upscale.  My son has a 59 Airstream with tongue and groove floor and all these custom metal shelves he built, with mosaic tiles on them.  That's his kitchen ;~)  But because he has a shop (for his metalwork), he has a regular fridge in there, with electricity.  But you'll be off the grid, and good thing too, with the prices of everything.  Hope the propane stays within reach.

Just think what that poop is going to do for your garden!  Send some along to me.  I've gotten my compost out of my compost pit, but could use more good stuff.  Unfortunately, I don't have any llamas sitting around in my backyard.

Re: Quiet Disrupted
The llama poop does wonders for the garden ..... its like land of the giants out there every year.  I call it black gold ...... Dave was making this mixture up for some friends ...... and now off to deliver ...... we compost everything too ...... we have some amazing dirt for sure.  Wish I could share!

We can fill the propane tank in Ashland for $2.75 a gallon still.  Worth the trip up there since the propane lasts forever.  We also have a solar panel ..... that Dave is going to get hooked up ..... maybe not this year ..... I have to draw the line and get out of here sooner or later ..... the projects could go on forever.  And I'm losing patience.  lol  But if he can get it done like now ..... I'd love to have it hooked up.

I love old Airstream trailers ..... they are classic, sleek trailers ..... his sounds just wonderful!

Peace.  J.

LOL .... just thinking ..... as upscale as a little 10' trailer can get ...... lol

Re: Quiet Disrupted
Do you remember from the old Mother Earth News magazines something called "Heat Grabbers"?  They were small, easily built solar panels for a home.  I think it's time we made some for around here for this winter.

Your propane sounds like it will work out for you guys - good price!

Wish I could get my hands (no, I don't) on some llama poop.  I need some better fertilizer around here.

YEah, my younger son is incredible about finding these old cars, motorcycles, trailers, etc. (Airstream) (and I think his is around 20 feet? - not sure)  He takes rides into the surrounding countryside and looks into people's yards for abandoned ones.  Then talks with owners who usually want to get rid of them and in the past, he has fixed them up, mostly for friends for free.  That's why he's always broke.

Namaste, time for lunch ;~)

Re: Quiet Disrupted
Yeah, thinking those solar panels would be nice around here too ..... anyway to save a dime or nickel or dollar these days ..... !

Enjoy lunch ..... I just ate a grapefruit .... but I'm still hungry ..... hummm ......

Peace.  J.

grapefruits are not enough of a lunch for me ;~)

Ya know, being the old hippie that I am, I am going to post that heat grabber thingie from the Mother Earth News onto here and see if I can help a few folks.

Slanted shelves?

Keep that in mind when parking and blocking/jacking the tongue.
iliketiedye on
Re: Quiet Disrupted
Well the shelves actually should be ok in that regard ...... they are just wider than the size of a can and its just this one small narrow cupboard ..... all the other shelves are level in the trailer.  Not that crazy ..... but for the cans with the deepness of the shelves it made more sense to have them on a slight slant forward.  The cupboard locks too.

None of that makes any sense I know ..... lol ..... ***sigh***  I barely know what I'm trying to say.  Smiley

Peace.  J.
