Yesterday the Little One didn't have any math homework, because they had a test.

"It was a third grade test, Mom.  And it was hard."

I went to pick her up today because Go-Go had book club after school.  I asked the Little One about the test.  "It wasn't a third grade test.  But I forget what it's called."

When we got home I found the test in her folder - Third Quarter Test.  And for someone who told her mother it was hard, she got a 95% only one question wrong, borrowing in subtraction.  I'm always catching those mistakes in her homework too.  She doesn't borrow and reverses the numbers instead, subtracting the smaller number from the bigger one.

I took the test out and said,  This was the hard test?  And you got a 95%.  She insists she guessed on a lot of them, but you have to show your work, and everything was in order.  She needs to give herself more credit.

Re: Third Grade Math Test
Nope just black beans and Spanish rice because I wanted Mexican last night and that was the best I could muster.

that's ok, Aria got a certificate for first place on the AMC8 test...but she didn't even know she took it and she has no idea if that is just for the school, or state, or what not...

Re: Third Grade Math Test
If it were for the state I'm sure the school would have made a bigger deal of it.

Re: Third Grade Math Test
well, come to find out, there can be many perfect scores on the test...so if first place for the school meant a perfect score she could be tied nationwide with that score...so...I'm not really sure what the point is there...
