So sorry that I haven't updated for a few days now. I just have been busy and working on homework so much, I haven't had time to gather my thoughts for a decent post. I went home this past weekend, after picking my mom up from the airport and just relaxed really. I got to spend the whole day with my buddies Danny (esterk ) and Nat, and it was a fun time, so it was a nice weekend overall. Even though my mom hated my straight hair, she wasn't TOO mean about it, so I guess it's all good. She got me an awesome University of Texas t-shirt though, so I thanked her a bunch of times for it. It made my roommate Nathan really happy to see she got me a Texas shirt, just cause he's a huge fan and has been trying to make me into one too. (I guess they're officially my 2nd team now) :P
While I was at home, Danny gave me a bunch of music, along with the masses of music I've been listening to lately, so here are some of the artists/albums I've been listening to:
illScarlett - All Day With It: This album is FANTASTIC. Yeah, the band is a bunch of guys talking about pot in most of their songs, but the way they tie their music together, and their witty lyric writing sometimes is too hard to pass up. A highly recommended album if you're into a band that knows how to make an album with a big variety of sounds.
RED - Innocence and Instinct: This is very similar to their first album, however their lyric writing has improved some, and the albums theme on human emotion is very neat. Worth a listen if you're into the hard rock scene, but this band knows how to do some soft ballads as well.
Forgive Durden - Razia's Shadow: A Musical: This album is basically just a huge story told in song, and it's FANTASTIC. After Forgive Durden's vocalist Thomas Dutton was left by the rest of his band due to musical differences, he decided to make his story side project under the name of his "band". This album utilizes duets often, and features a lot of guest artists, such as Casey Crescenzo (from the Dear Hunter which I LOOOOVE), Nic Newsham (from Gatsby's American Dream, I love them too!), Brendon Urie (from Panic! At the Disco, not the biggest fan of them), and many other big artists from The Matches, Say Anything, and more. Highly, highly recommend this album, it's much different from the norm, and reminds me a LOT of the Dear Hunter's style.
A Day to Remember - Homesick: This was Alternative Press' most anticipated album of 2009, and with very good reason. This album is a perfect balance of ADtR's screaming and singing. While the band relies on a lot of "hardcore" elements, the band also showcases some fantastic vocals at times, worth a listen if you're into harder rock.
On another note, my shmexy buddy (and now Mindsay sister/BFF) genny5 got me to download this program IMVU, and it's amusing. I don't know how much time I'll have to use it since I'm always working on schoolwork, but I really like the program. It's unique and fairly easy to use! Now onto my music for the day, I decided to pick a song I haven't listened to in a while, but really love:
Like sugar the sweetest thing I ever tasted
Like a fine merlot
And white pills cut on glass and lips of dolls
I'm told there was beauty in our silence
So hold me angel, love me angel
Kiss the sun and burn our lips dead radio
Candy girl you will never ever, ever make me the
Perfect killer
Outside the rabbit hole is a candy shop of poison
A velvet tongue demur is cast and melted
We are not alone
A creature stirs outside these paper walls
These gods are hollow and burned
Ignite this angel, love me angel
Kiss the sun and burn our lips dead radio
Candy girl you will never ever, ever make me the
Perfect killer
Outside the rabbit hole is a candy shop of poison
The sweetest thing I ever tasted...
Invite me to pray, let the music glow
Ignite my eyes and watch the poison flow
Say it with me: "We Are Ghost"
Not too loud, the Kingdom follows
Kiss the sun and burn our lips dead radio
Candy girl you will never ever, ever make me the
Perfect killer
Outside the rabbit hole is a candy shop of poison

Make me the perfect...killer
