Dick Facts

I've spent the last few months trying to get revenge on a whale. Folks keep posting comments on my website (http://blubberybastard.tripod.com) asking me if my whale is white. I got to wondering if that was some kind of literature reference? Also, me and my crew refer to the whale we're hunting as a dickhead--cause he is one. Again, smart people sent in "kudos" on the "riff on Melville." I never got it. Well, it turns out there's an old book called Moby Dick by a guy named Melville who's long since croaked--the title is the name of the whale. He was not called that, as my crew and me suspected, as any anatomy reference, like Bigfoot. It's cause they first sighted him in the vicinity of the island of Mocha, which got bungled in pronunciation. Dick was merely a generic name like Joe or Bill.
