Wouldn’t that be cool? Hehehe, unintentional pun. It’s currently 43C (109.4F) and I’m thinking that having a cooling system in my clothes would be astoundingly awesome. Hmmmm. Maybe I should patent that idea. lol

From google:

High Tech Cooling Vest for Survival

Feb.05.2001

"CSIRO Media Release

"Australian scientists have invented a new high tech vest to help keep soldiers and emergency workers alive in the searing temperatures of deserts, mines and major fires. (((A handsome new garment with obvious "khaki- green" weather-violence applications.)))

"The vest uses a personal cooling system (PCS), jointly developed by CSIRO and Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).

"It is designed to be worn by military personnel underneath NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) clothing, body armour and other protective uniforms, by emergency services workers wearing protective clothing and by miners working underground."

(((This vest is just what you need to clean out a Greenhouse-flooded toxic swamp, in a blacked-out biological research complex, in suffocating humidity, amid swarms of diseased mosquitos. Then consider the civilian apps! This CSIRO vest, suitably remodelled, would make a great three-piece vest for crisp urban professionals in cities prostrated by heat waves. Never let them see you sweat! Urban bicycle messengers offer a clear clean- energy niche: the faster you pedal, the cooler you get!)))

"(...) 'The PCS is based on new, patented heat pipe technology which works by collecting body heat through vapour filled cavities in a vest worn on the body. The heat is then transferred via a flexible heat pipe to the atmosphere with the help of an evaporative cooling heat exchanger,' Dr Bando says. (((In other words, it's an artificial sweating system.)))

"It has been launched for commercial development by the joint owners of the technology, CSIRO and DSTO. Commercialisation will be undertaken by Freehills Technology Services (FTS) in partnership with the Victorian State Government, through its Technology Commercialisation Program." (((They're just sitting there begging for someone to license them! Quick, tell the skateboarders.)))

So, what you're saying is - no patent for me?

no

Re: Cooling Systems In Your Clothes
S'okay. I didn't expect a patent since I know full well that the space program already came up with a cooling system for their astronauts in space suits. Space suits, apparently, are VERY hot to wear and therefore require their own cooling system.
