I have always been drawn to folk tales. I love to learn about different cultures and their own folk tales and creatures.

A friend of mine brought this to my attention. Its a great link that describes in detail with neato illustrations the Japanese folk-tale creatures.

I give you: the Obakemono Project.

I rather like the Neko-mata & the Yuki-onna

I loooove horror movies and gory stuff BUT the OLD japanese obake tales are the scariest ever!!  Have you watched the japanese version of the grudge or the ring?  much more scary than the american versions.  The japanese are scary man!!  I should know....I'm japanese!  (well not full japanese-but enough)

Re: Japanese folk lore.
Wow, so do I!! Have you seen "The Eye"? IT ROCKS!! I know it was made in Hong Kong but I agree. You gotta watch the original movies not the remake. They are SOOOO MUCH better. I love them.

Thats awesome your part Japanese. This is part of your culture. Me Im an official mutt. Hahaha. So Im naturally ecclectic. I think alot of the Japanese ghost's are much more scary than the american typical ghost... I have noticed that some of those creatures on that list could easily be found here too.
