Well, Derek, here's the deal--as the song says "If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all!!!" Bad times, good times, old-new, up-down, back-forth, what's the diff, really, in the grand scheme...you do the best ya' can, try not to hurt anyone, especially yourself and loved ones, and love as many people n animals as ya/ can....oh, and avoid any pill called The Blue Mocus!

That's one way of looking at it.  But, read it this way:
Some people say they had bad luck, when that just did something stupid --  "I had bad luck when I fell off the jetboat while driving it backwards..."  -- like that.
