Many experts believe that one of the biggest health problems facing the U.S. today is the growing prevalence of obesity. Some 65% of adult Americans are overweight, and nearly a third are medically obese. By contrast, obesity in other industrial nations is far lower, averaging 10% to 12% in Continental Europe.

Habit:  An acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary. What is a positive habit? A positive habit is simply a habit that produces positive benefits, actions and attitudes you want to acquire and make a part of your life. Why is there such great power in positive habits to effect change? Because habits, bad and good, are by their very nature automatic and after a period of time they will become permanent.

Think about the habits you have now and how they affect virtually every aspect of your life. Your weight and health are determined by your eating habits. Your relationships with people are determined by your social habits. Your success at work is determined by your work habits. You have sleeping habits that dictate how well you sleep. Our character, health and virtually every aspect of our lives are indeed determined by our habits.

Goal setting is simple, yet 97% of the population never do it. Here are some simple steps to help you start making goal setting a positive habit:

1.  Define your goals, write them down, and be very specific; capture your goals on paper. It is amazing how many people never take the time to write down exactly what it is they want in life. Remember, you can’t hit a target if you can’t see it!

2.  Determine what the time line is for reaching your goals and set specific deadlines for each goal.

3.  Identify any obstacles that may stand in your way, list them, and state how you plan to overcome them.

4.  Make a list of the people and/or organizations who will help you reach your goals.

Make positive change daily with the creation of good and healthy habits.

Are you for reals about this stuff?  Cuz if you really are, then I wanted to tell you that tomorrow I am starting eating right and living healthy.  I will do 1 mile three times a day,  which equals 3 miles a day.  Plus I will not being eating hardly any carbs, cuz thats what caused me to be fat.  So i will be eating fruits, vegies, lots of protein and taking fish oil pills and stuff...  If you care, I would like to talk to you during these times while i lose weight and live a healthy life!

Re: Healthy habits and goal setting
Good for you! Be sure to set goals that you can keep. Baby steps always work best. Start out slow and sure and you will be able to close your eyes each night knowing that you did something good for yourself each day. I can't stress portion control enough. Eating properly and eating only enough to fuel your body is the only way to get fit and lean. You have the right idea about your nutritional needs so staying away from pre-processed foods and anything that comes through a drive-through window will be of serious benefit to you. Feel free to chat anytime. I wish you the best and will help you with your journey to better health and fitness in any way I can.
