I just listened to a recording of Dog the Bounty Hunter talking about the word "nigger" and a particular person he didn't approve of. He explicitly states thruout that it's not against a race that he doesnt like this person, its who/what she represents... He defines the N word as a derogatory term, which when I was growing up, it was.. it still horrifies me to hear anyone calling their 'friends/homies, etc' Nigger.. in fact it makes my throat tighten it is that offensive to me. It's as bad as a man calling a woman the C word in my book.

However, the press is making a field day out of this and I think it's really being made to look like something it isn't. I don't feel that he was being racist. I believe he was stating his opinion of an undesirable person using a harsh and offensive politically incorrect term.

It's a term that should be abolished. Then when it's used, it's clear and cut that it's wrong. No more of saying, it's ok if we say it amongst ourselves. BULL CRAP.  It's not ok. Do you even really know what that term MEANS? Why would you call a 'friend' that? Absurd.

One of the quotes that the NE put out is ""I'm not gonna lose everything I've worked for, for 30 years, because some f------ n----- heard us say n----- and turned us into the Enquirer magazine." The related link to the National Enquirer exclusive report details the context of the conversation between Dwayne "Dog" Chapman and his son."

They omitted his clarification of the word N and that they use it and that it has NOTHING to do with race. Listen to the audio here: http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=7467

I am personally tired of tabloids, papparazzi and half truths. I am tired of the press, scandals and I am frustrated knowing there is nothing I can do about any conspiracys.

Ok, that was a broad statement..but that's how I feel!

blahblahblahblahblahblah WHO FUCKING CARES?  Oh man some guy said the word nigger?  God he's probably like the biggest fucking asshole on earth.  I mean it's not like I can hear the nigger word 30 times a day just walking down the halls at school or anything.  I mean come on, who the fuck uses the world nigger anymore?  Certainly not several black rappers who have no problem shouting out props to their fellow niggaz yet see no double standard when they get all pissed at some white guy for saying it.  That never happens, hell no.  Oh man, I hope they don't see me post this, I used the word nigger like 3 FUCKIGN TIMES.  I should probably just kill myself because I'm such a piece of shit.

Yeah, that comment was totally weird and schizophrenic sounding, but whatever, it felt right,

Re: Dog Scandal
I may not have worded it like that, but yep..when it feels right, it feels right... Maybe Dog should go to ... REHAP like Isaiah washington did for calling the co actor a faggot.. ...

I am in no way condoning calling people names or being offensive to them, but we are really getting out of hand.

Re: Dog Scandal
Well, that's just how I communicate things.  Harsh sarcasm and the like.

Yeah, being offensive, I think, is unnecessary.  As horrible a connotation that the word has, people will keep saying it, and there isn't really much of a means to stop it.

wow.. lets say the "N" word one more time...

Re: Dog Scandal
Context is everything. He wasn't talking to his "niggas". He was talking about his son's girlfriend who he hates, therefore it was used in a derogatory manner. It's a big difference between if your best friend jokingly calls you a bitch or if I called you a bitch out of anger.
wishyouwerehere on
Re: Dog Scandal
Indeed.  Admittedly, I didn't listen to the attached audio file, so I didn't exactly know what the context was.  Anyway, the point is, the word is used all the time.  I just don't see why everyone gets in an uproar when some celebrity gets caught saying it.  It's an offensive word no matter WHO is saying it.  I mean, I guess the tabloids need to have SOMETHING to talk about so people keep buying their crap magazines, but I just don't see why we throw some celebrity into the spotlight for it while there are plenty of other non-famous racist assholes who use it all the time and get away with it.  This news story is nothing but a waste of time.

Re: Dog Scandal
I agree it was used in a derogatory tone, but I guess my point was . .to him.. as he explained it, it wasnt used as a racist term..but how he describes the meaning of the word. But I agree with you about the inside name calling.. kinda like .. ok.. I can call my sis a bitch, but dont you call her or else.. right..? I just dont get why anyone really would want to call someone else that to begin with... and I think it just boils down to how I was raised... in a mixed culture in the 60's/70's in NYC.. at that time. you just didnt.. you know?

When I wrote this, I was basically more frustrated at the whole press double standard harrassing people methodology when there are really bigger issues out there.. .

Re: Dog Scandal
Personally I don't believe people who aren't racist use racial slurs when their angry. I've had white people angry with me who NEVER called me a racial slur out of anger. I certainly don't call people racial slurs when I'm pissed at them. Plus, he wasn't talking to the person herself, he was talking (yelling) at his son about his black girlfriend. I'm sorry, but that apology and that lame explanation doesn't wash. If a pissed off black person yells at you and calls you a "cracker", they can't come back later and say, "Oh, I meant "cracker" in the Nabisco sense." I'm sorry, but it just doesn't work. If he wasn't racist, he wouldn't use the word.

Re: Dog Scandal
I agree it is a reprehensible word but it is often taken out of context. It's akin to girlfriends calling it other 'b_ _ _ h. Ok if it's friends but, not for outsiders.

Re: Dog Scandal
Thank you Mamajo! Why is that so damn hard for people to get through their heads???? WAAHHHH double standards! How about DUH! CONTENT!

Re: Dog Scandal
It seems so obvious to me...I'm like you...why is so hard for some?

Re: Dog Scandal
Speaking of Duhh...I just re-read my original reply and realized I said 'calling it other' instead of each other. Oh well, as long as ppl got the idea.

Re: Dog Scandal
I gotcha.  Ya know what? I'm just not going to comment on it anymore because it will get ugly and people's feelings will get hurt. You know how I get, Mamajo.

Re: Dog Scandal
Words have no meaning but what they are given by the context surrounding them.

I've long had a problem with people telling me shit is a bad word, but crap and poop are fine.  If I want to say I have to take a dump/shit/crap/poop, who is to say I'm not just trying to keep from getting in a slump by using the same limited vocabulary over and over.  It's generally a good thing to avoid overuse of any one word.  Similarly, how is it any better when I say "Balls!" or "Nuts!" in exasperation than saying "Damnit!" or "Oh shit!"?

You can embed as much venom into a generally "good" word as a "bad" one...

Re: Dog Scandal
You are exactly right Saik. I don't think that so-called curse words are bad. The ones I believe are bad are related to taking the Lord's name in vain. If one is a Christian, they are the worst things to say. After all they are in the Ten Commandments. The rest are man-made words and as you say..have no meaning but what they are given by the context surrounding them.

Re: Dog Scandal
I agree with Dog 100% and disagree with you 100%.

NO word or phrase should be abolished.

I could care less if it offends someone (I certainly don't use that word and doubt I have ever used it except in conversations about the word itself).  I am offended every god-damned day in some form or another, Irish bashing, man bashing, trucker bashing, cop bashing, liberal bashing, white bashing, so WHEN is society going to step up for ME and protect MY tender feelings from words?

Sorry, use of language is human, emotions are human, you take away the 'N' word and I guarantee you will find another term to replace it, meaning the exact same thing, giving the exact same offense, and VIOLA, we're off to the "let's ban  that word TOO" races.

If someone is impolite enough to speak such things publicly, then ostracize them.  Walk away.  Don't buy the album.  Don't watch his TV show.  Don't read the magazine.

You are right that it is a shame the enquirer (and no, enquirer, I DON'T want to know) feels a need to 'out' someone for language that is obviously not intended as inciteful but is being insightful instead.  Until the public quits being a bunch of pansy assed PC wimps jumping on a chair and screaming everytime they see a mouse, then rags like that will pander to them to earn a few bucks (and you know damn well the people who get the most upset over things like that are the very people who take the time to re, re-read, and re-re-re-read the offending story, just so they can righteously keep going "tsktsktsk!".

Re: Dog Scandal
Yeah... erasing one word would be moronic.. so many others would just pop in its place.. I was just venting about the whole press issue in the long run...using dog's story as a backdrop. I personally agreed with dog and thought I made that clear in my comment.

Re: Dog Scandal
I sent a note to A&E telling them due to their decision today, I will boycott their network - they disgust me with their censorship more than any racist asshole like Dog.  I will make the decision of who I will watch/listen to and I have never watched the bounty hunter but will stand by his right to say (in private, not on their tight-ass network) what he wants to say.

Your comment wasn't clear for in the middle of it, you clearly said

"It's a term that should be abolished. Then when it's used, it's clear and cut that it's wrong. No more of saying, it's ok if we say it amongst ourselves. BULL CRAP.  It's not ok. Do you even really know what that term MEANS? Why would you call a 'friend' that? Absurd"

I do not care to have anyone tell me I can't say a word, no matter that it may prove me to be ignorant, or racist, or sexist, or . . . it is my right to embarass myself.  Anyone raised with manners, couth, etiquette, etc, KNOWS such language is socially unacceptable, but it is not our job as a society to regulate language that offends, only language that harms.
