A couple of weeks ago I went to Colorado for the Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers trade show & convention type thingie. It was great - but be warned, the Crown Royal there charges $10 a day for in-room wireless! I was willing to pay, but couldn't get a signal in my wing and no one to help me. I went to the lobby for the "free" connection, but there I could only pick up the pay signal and I'll be damned if I'm paying $10 if I can't be in my pajamas! So, therefore, no posting that week. Last week I was sick from visiting all of the exotic germs.

Finally, well(er) and soooo far behind on my list of things to do which has suddenly grown. I have no poetical rambles, I need to make the space for wandering thusly in my mind. I DID see the first ultrasound of the baby that allegedly grows inside me, and heard the heartbeat. It made it more real. That, and the onslaught of intense, stoner-like cravings for sweet creamy food (think, stoner on steroids... intense).

The world progresses and I must hop on and catch up because now things are occurring that will kick my ass if I do not! The father and I are having many fun arguments - the worst one is church or not to church. Neither of us are church goers, and neither of us are "Christian" in the strict sense (ideologically, but not theologically). I lean towards Judaism, but the closest temple is prohibitively far away so I never took the conversion steps, and we both dig the philosophy of Buddhism. He wants to have the child attend church and let them find their own way. I don't mind the "finding your own way" with good information part... But churching can actually be harmful, if sent to the wrong one. There are repeated messages and misinterpretations and so many things that can be fed into an impressionable childs mind... Plus the fact that it seems hypocritical since mommy and daddy do not currently attend... The debate is ongoing, and has many elements... Personally, I think the child should be 5-7 before attending church, when they can actually pay some attention and get something out of it. I DON'T want to baptize them into a religion unless they choose it. He sees no problem with it, but to me, it's an oath and the child needs to know that promises matter.... OY

We are agreed that we will have to adopt the child out if he/she shows signs of Jock-ism though!

Merry Wednesday!

Re: Long Pause
Funny that i a former minister would say this but I woiuld not put a child into anything like church until they are about 4.

Then because of your beliefs I would look at a very inclusive church meaning one that does NOT exclude other faiths. I would look more into a house or study group of some kind. I have actually been looking at attending a monthly multifaith film club for children and adults where people have coffee juice etc between films and talk about what they have seen.

I could go on and on about this but not as the first response.

How are you feeling and when is the baby due.?

Awww, isn't that special...

Hey! Don't tell me you're turning into one of the happy shiny people!

OMG!!!

JK - you know I'm happy for you.

Find a non-denominational church for the baptism... or some ordained minister - like me, for free, just pay for my gas to drive to Alpine!  LOL

Lessee... 1250 miles... 24mpg... 18 gal tank...

Re: Long Pause
DooooooD - that would be more than I probably make in.... well, like, a long long time! Bookstores don't pay so good!

And NONONO! Never SHP me! We've already discussed our fears of turning out a jock child, and agreed to euthanize it for the betterment of the world if that is the case! He/she better be a malcontented nerd like the parents or there will be hell to pay!
