KEEP GETTING BETTER CHITOWNFREAK25, WE ARE PULLING FOR YOU LADY! THANKS PROLIFICDAY FOR THE UPDATE!

Howdy howdy all! Well it is on to Longhorn Caverns. I gotta tell ya that I was more excited than a kid in a candy store when I realized that we would be squeezing in a trip to a cave. I really dig caves even though I am afraid of BATS because they well...they havent done anything to ME per se but I have seen enough dracula films to know that one bite make one undead. Okay okay that isnt true but their faces really freak me out. Anyway the caverns rocked super hard.

There is a room called crystal city that has well a bunch of crystals....could you just die Myclette?

Doesnt this formation look like teeth?

This building was an office built by a civilian corp of works during the depression. The Civilian corp generated jobs for countless Americans during the 1930's

How about this formation on the ceiling of the cave called quite aptly, the bootprint.. Image hosting by Photobucket

Oooh check out the woody area near the cavern. It was so pretty that we had to go exploring.... Image hosting by Photobucket

But not before I hit the giftshop for much needed trail eats! Damn, how many times did I wear that damn Eagles T-shirt ya'll. Just kidding, I actually have 2 of them because the EAGLES rock just that hard! That's right, I went there! Image hosting by Photobucket

the trail led to an observation tower built by the civilian conservation corp for water storage and umm  observation....

Here is the view from the top of the observation tower.... Image hosting by Photobucket

Here are some more shots of the cavern...this is a narrow entry that we navigated down

Now even though the tour guide dude told folks not to touch, there was a clown in front of me who made like a freakin teenage boy on prom night with the freaking formations...what a douche!

Well its lunchtime...here is my lunch YUM Image hosting by Photobucket

This is Lady J's, note the Mountain Dew, my most hated of all soft drinks, BLECH Image hosting by Photobucket

Well our last night at Inks Lake State Park was nice and quiet, we packed up everything that we wouldnt need for the next morning because we had to get up early to meet a fellow mindsayer DrunkenOso at Enchanted Rock for a day of hiking. Here is a picture of the night sky on our last night.... Image hosting by Photobucket

Morning came upon us and we packed up nice and neatly...leaving the site the way we found it... Image hosting by Photobucket

On to Enchanted Rock!!!!! On the way there we saw a bunch of signs that read "Loose Cattle", UGH! TRAMPS! And right there on the street too, scandalous! LOL! That's right, I am all about the bovine humor over here people!

Image hosting by Photobucket

Well we are almost there and in the distance the "Rock" looms, perhaps mocking us, perhaps inviting us to taste defeat, but will the Rock be victorious or are WE the CHEESE? Image hosting by Photobucket

Well that is all for now but how about some poetry...here goes....

Song Of The Moon

The moonlight breaks upon the city's domes,
And falls along cemented steel and stone,
Upon the grayness of a million homes,
Lugubrious in unchanging monotone.

Upon the clothes behind the tenement,
That hang like ghosts suspended from the lines,
Linking each flat to each indifferent,
Incongruous and strange the moonlight shines.

There is no magic from your presence here,
Ho, moon, sad moon, tuck up your trailing robe,
Whose silver seems antique and so severe
Against the glow of one electric globe.

Go spill your beauty on the laughing faces
Of happy flowers that bloom a thousand hues,
Waiting on tiptoe in the wilding spaces,
To drink your wine mixed with sweet drafts of dews--Claude McKay

I love this poem because it is a criticism of our concrete jungles and how our sister moon has no space in THAT kind of space. The second and last stanza really speak to me because they relate to my tiny apartment and my love of escaping to nature.

Goddess Bless

Wish I'd been there.

Mustard and sardines - you've spent far too much time hanging with Myclette!

I am all for sardines!  Eating them with mustard is new to me (and as yet untried).  I am, tho, the person who, as a kid, ate toast with mustard...

Great photos! Some of those rock formations look insane! Like the one you said reminded you of teeth...I don't know what it looked like to me, but it looked alive.

Mmm....sardines! Do you ever get the sardines that are in the mustard sauce, instead of getting the mustard on the side? Yum. I also love going to the Spanish section of the grocery store and getting the ones in the tomato sauce. It's always an insane amount for like a dollar.

I have tried the ones in mustard sauce but I prefer to get my own mustard. I do like the ones in tomato sauce though and you get like two freaking rows of like six sardines for 1.50!

Those formation were insane!
