Why do many of us have this fierce quest to be right all of the time? Why do people think that being right ups their personal value more than anything else? Well, maybe yes, or maybe no.

‘Does it matter? He is wrong and we are right.’ That’s what we would always say. Aww c'mon, is that what it is?! But life isn’t all about being right all of the time. Right doesn’t always make us the good guys. If we pursue and defend right in a manner that appears heartless, mean, ruthless, or demeaning then whatever our good intent that sense of being right would be lost in the pieces of a shattered heart --- a broken spirit.

We go to extra lengths to defend being right or prove a point which we believe is the correct one. But has it ever occurred to us just how this hard badgering and hammering is affecting the other person? That the words we speak although of good intent may not be the right things to say to that person? That being so entrenched in our fervor and righteousness we fail to see that the other person is hurting?

How about trying on his shoes for a change and see how that feels? Maybe then you will wish so hard that the world or people were a little bit kinder? That it’s not so much being right but being kind which truly matters? That people can be wrong, true, but are we always kind? Such thoughts run through the mind of a broken man.

Being right is okay in its proper time intent and place, but being kind is more important --- cause it’s being human and humane that makes the grade.

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
I couldn't agree more with your final statement. I've realized doing the right thing doesn't always involve what I may desire, but in the end it pays off.

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
Being right is a matter of perspective as well.  I may see right differently than you do...so we get back to the greatest law, which is the law of love.  God is love and if we show his attributes, we will truly be in the right in the end, even if we do not see things the way others see them.

A great little lesson in a neat package, with a beautiful picture!

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
Showing love and understanding towards other people's frailties and weaknesses is what God prefers. We could be right but let it be tempered with kindness towards the other person. God commands us to love one another, that includes being kind.

Thank you for being here.

Blessings!

Wow! Thank you for this... I usually am okay with being wrong, or having people think I'm wrong, but lately I have struggled with it.  Thank you for reminding me that being loving, is more important then being right!

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
Yeah, I was like you too but as one grows older...  things are not what they seem anymore. Or should I rather say.. if wisdom is the prize for growing old then it sure has put me in good stead. lols! Smiley You are right -- "..being loving, is more important then being right!" We all can be right about so many things in life, but there are ways and ways to do it or say it. Rather than shove it down somebody else's throat.  Maybe 'tis better to give the other fella the needed time and space to process the new stuff. Let him come to his own discovery or conclusion. We are here for each other to be supportive -- not disruptive of other people's lives.

You are a sweet soul. Warms my heart so.

Blessings to you and your family.

My theme is life comes from Thoreau

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
Ego is the answer. Something God slowly whittles away at over time until your life is no longer about you if you give your life to Him. Life  becomes about serving God and serving others above all else. When we can come to a point in our life where what we want is of little significance, we no longer have to be right, our personal value in this world means nothing. As the bible says, we are stronger when we are at our weakest moments, when all we can do is turn it all over to God, He then fills us, build us, holds us up.

Very good thoughts! Thanks.

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
I am sure you received a blessing during that week as I was faithful praying for you and your family and in the days that followed. God allowed me to see you as a very talented and wonderfully giving person who has sacrificed much in life, with children who have endured difficult times as well, and I was quite sure He would again prove his love to all of you. He really loves you all. Great rewards await you. Keep your eyes on the finish line and serve, serve, serve him and others above all else!!

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
You simply amaze me - how did you 'see' that? Gift of discernment! You are blessed. That is true, my family and I have been through a lot in life, me in my own since my childhood days. I never thought it was 'sacrifice'. It was something that I had no choice in but was the only road that I had to tread. But I can honestly say that God stood close as He stands close now and I know tomorrow and the next and so forth. He never ceases to prove His great magnificent love for me and my family. That is what I am trying to tell people in my writing, if they would listen. That despite our human failings and weaknesses and imperfection and no matter how undeserving we are -- God continues to hold us in the palm of His hands safely protected provided and cared for. Why would He send His only Son to die on the Cross for our sake? It's His love that made Him do it. Don't we do most  everything for the one we love? God would move mountains and seas and the heavens for -- us -- the ones He loves. How blessed we are indeed!

Thank you for holding me and my family in your prayers.
Thank you for such a wonderful gift.
God's peace and blessings to you.

Re: BEING KIND IS MORE IMPORTANT -- THAN BEING RIGHT
Jesus said we can lead pure and righteous lives and that we can become holy, and do even greater things than he did. So we can move mountains! We can calm the seas!  I believe you are well on your way to holiness. Your heart speaks truth, and your words show the transformation you have gone through. And the hard times got you to this place where you can see and feel what others can not. Butmore importantly you can hear God. He needs those that can hear and will boldly share their faith. There are very few who answer God's call in this way.

You are very special to God and I know you will be used in many great ways in the years ahead. God brought me to you to tell you this and to lift you up in prayer. I look forward to meeting you.

You have a wonderful gift! You are blessed!
