So today is the first uber-productive day I've had in a while. I made myself a schedule last night and I've stuck to it almost all day, even right now. You lovely folks can thank my schedule for making me update. I've still been job searching, unfortunately my #1 choice doesn't seem likely to pick me, but there is still hope. In the meantime, thanks to a few revelations and improvements such as my self-scheduling, I have new hope for being able to succeed on some of the personal, entrepreneurial projects I've been intending to work on.
But, the bills(and expectations of my mother) are closing in. So over the next day or two I'm choosing between hardcore-job-searching, which means not necessarily getting something in my 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd choice categories of jobs, or instead engaging in a series of delaying-action money-making gigs. There are stage management openings and other short-term work options I could choose that would give me more flexibility and freetime than a steady job. They would pay the bills and possibly add to my resume. The downside is their sporadic nature, gaps between employment, etc. We'll see.
Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to finally start searching for a local gaming group to get something started with. I'll either find a D&D group to play in or I'll GM a Star Wars d20 group. I need to meet some people in Boston, and gaming geeks are a good group to start with. Another long-delayed social thing I need to do is catch up with some old friends who are in Boston. A few of my high school classmates are going to college up here, it should be worth it to grab some coffee with them.
Time to take a break from my computer and just read for a while. Hope everyone who reads this is doing well, if I keep scheduling my days out I'll try to make sure I update at least weekly.
Keeping the promise,
Jay
