"I look to the historical biographies of great men involved in deep thought, contemplation, and resolution and they are for the most part married to their thought more than a person. If they had partners they were not remembered"
As you know.... HIStory is never the complete picture. The partner of that GREAT person (men AND women) is often essential in the process of knowing. Who else is going to help hold the mirror while reflection occurs?
If man could stand alone, if indeed if he could be all he needed in complete realization then why does he long for the simple pleasure of another? I think that relation is in everything we do and quite visible in nature. There is a balance of one and the other, hot and cold, night and day. Perhaps those that beocme consumed and frought with "madness" in their obsession are just imbalanced. It is amazing to see the balance and dialogism of the world, yet we often negate or somehow suspend belief in what we see as a plausible reality of ying and yang. I would agree, and so would Donald Schon, that reflection by one's self will only lead to a cycle of perpetual reflection with nothing new but perpetuating reflections. We all need a balance in life with ourselves, with earth, with people,a nd with the universe. For so great a thought that one man may have it is often the simplest one's that bring him to his needs in an epiphany or loathsome derangement of reality. More so, we contemplate in search of things, ideas, or realities, yet some things are not physical searches but ones that must be sought within the self. As we become true and hoinest with ourselves then we may reflect that trueness and honest with others revealing to us the happiness or small bits of joy that we were rpeviously blind to. The challenge is to find a sense of stillness and enjoyment. As if you had one last breath in which to smell the flowers or morning coffee. Or perhaps you shut your eyes as if to feel the sun on your face one last time. We often realize such still moments when they actually become the still moments that are the final point of our lives. By this point we breath one last breath with only fear, uncertainty, and regret. Let every breath be as if it were the last. Smell it, feel it, and taste. When you exhale pass on such energy and enjoyment to another....
