My 'Spring Break!' is a fledgling day-and-a-half old, and it is already AMAZING.  Shelley is amazing.

She called me last night to say she had forgotten she was supposed to go to UMass for something called "Awkwardfest", a party a friend of hers was hosting, and she wanted to know if I wanted to go with her.  DUH.  I called my friend Mike to tell him I was going, and he said, "and you're going to WIN Awkwardfest".  Before we went to the party, we sat at Friendly's for over an hour and ate ice cream and talked and laughed and pretended Tyronne wasn't in the booth behind her.  That was a little awkward, but when are Ty and I NOT awkward outside of camp?

The party was good; met some people, including a sophomore named Eddie whose dad GREW UP IN WEST HEMPSTEAD.  The tiny, non-known Long Island town yours truly grew up in.  Such a small world.  Overall, not an overly friendly party, but some people were, and I had a good time.

Today, she called me at about noon to ask if I wanted to go see John (her boyfriend)'s band play a show in Westfield, an hourish away from where we live.  I said absolutely.  I had gotten to see them play an acoustic set earlier this month, but had to leave before the later show where they played more, so I was like, 'hell yeah I wanna go!'.  The show was amaaaaaaaaaaazing.  John conducted an a capella group to start the show, and then the band took stage.  They're called Barefoot Truth, and they're awesome.  And the MOST awesome thing about them is (besides their talent) they've been tapped by Pete Francis to kind of double as his back-up band.  Pete Francis is 1/3 of the glorious band Dispatch, who are unfortunately...no longer a band.  And today, I got to shake Pete Francis' hand.  <33

The audience at the show was... top notch.  Very early in the set, this guy moved up next to Shelley.  He was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.  He was also wearing a 'Dispatch concert for Zimbabwe' t-shirt, with the date 7/13/07 on it.  THAT'S THE CONCERT I WAS AT.  They got back together for 3 nights, and I was there on the 13th, and so was this kid.  He was hilarious; trying to call to Pete the whole show, random dancing, general hilarity.  And about halfway through the show this giant man started giving out high-fives and asking names.  Nate was funny/cool...UNTIL he started spitting his mouthful of tobacco on the floor.  Then he had negative points.  And a little after I met 'Nate', this guy in a cowboy hat with crazy elbows came next to me, and the rest of the show I got to enjoy him and his dancing.  He looked like Zach Adler, which is a plus :).  At one point, he tried to form a circle, and started to skank in the middle of it (this is not skanking music).  He was pretty fantastic.

Then after the show, where if we would have stayed we would have gotten to see BRADDIGAN (Brad Corrigan, ANOTHER memb of Dispatch), but we left and decided to gra dinner.  We got Italian with her friend Curtis and his friend Mike, and then we enjoyed ice cream.  All in all, a very pleasant past few days.  I love concerts.  I love friends.

I have no complaints right now.
