Uncle Joey apparently died last night/today.

I wasn't particularly close to him; I'm not positive I've seen him in person after I was 2 (aka, a time I might remember meeting/seeing him). He was my grandpa's younger brother. He was very close to 91, if he didn't make it to 91. I'm still very sad, though. I was just working on my family tree the other day, having completed the same thing last semester, and Joey was the only one of that generation who was still with us. And now he's not. Now he's gone.

And I'm being a bad person and not going to services because I'm going out to hang out with my friends and be social.

You are not being bad. He may be on your family tree and he was not really part of your life.
Squirrels hand out in family trees to but we dont go to their funerals unless they were close to us.

I guess - it's just...he was the last one of that generation. The oldest people in my family now are people in my dad's generation, and that scares me, because that's the next generation to go, logically. And I don't like that idea.

I find it very hard to have my parents being the oldest generation. i do still have aunts in the previous generation.
Because of that there are 5 generations of my family alive now.

that's cool. The generations in my family are sort of strange (my mom's cousin had kids waaaaaaay before she did even though she's only a year or 2 older than my mom, so her sons who are 30-40 are MY generation, and their kids are a whole new gen, but I usually get lumped with them, and those guys are in a weird limbo category).
