There is a newish commercial presented by Truth.com, at least I think that's their name.  I know the name has the word 'truth' in it anyway.  It has this guy dressed up like a country singer & he has a tracheotomy & uses one of those voice amplifier things.  It sounds all mechanical & tinny.  He's singing "Oh you don't always die from tobacco" & it talks about losing a lung & removing your tounge.  I quit smoking a little over 2 months ago & the last week or two I have been seriously tempted to have 'just one'.  That commercial got my attention & deters me from lighting up.  It was just something that jarred my ass.

Re: Thought provoking commercial........
I'm glad it jarred you.  Your pangs will be gone.  It's the soft whispers, almost like the greek mythology of Siren, which lure you to believe you can have just ........one....

You need an Orpheus.

You are finding one, at least!  I'm happy for you and congratulations.  I am a successful quitter, of 5 years and people can smoke around me anytime they want and I don't care. I actually can't wait to get away.  It repulses me, now.  So, your endurance will bring you treasures.  Your lungs are the only organs which can heal themselves.  Except if you smoked menthol.  Autopsies can't even cut through the lungs because there are all glass fibers embedded in the lung tissue.  At the respiratory hospitals, they have signs at the front door, "If you smoked menthol cigarettes, we cannot help you."

Crazy.

Re: Thought provoking commercial........
Uh oh! I smoked Newports! I work in a Pathology lab which includes doing work in the morgue.  I've seen smokers lungs up close & personal so I know how much damage smoking does to a body.  Not to mention that it takes smokers longer to heal from surgeries and are more susceptable to infections & other complications.  For some reason, I saw myself as being immune to becoming one of the many people who will die from smoking.  I still hope I can reverse alot of the damage I have done to my body.  Congrats on your five years of being smoke free.  And thanks for the positive thoughts & inspirational words! Well, one things is for sure, you are moving in the perfect direction!!!!!  I wish I could post audio of a stadium full of people cheering you.   You can reverse a lot.

Hey, you may get lucky, people who pray have often gone completely against scientific proof...OR, OR, you may life a long and healthy life, regardless.  ::hugs::  I wish you Godspeed in the effort to see you will finally be free from this burden!
