Well I went to the concert yesterday. I must say I was very impressed as this was my first time seeing Green Day live. They were really great; they played a nice mix of old and new stuff. They even did some covers, like We Are the Champions and Shout. They also did some song by Operation Ivy. Billy Joe also did something I have never seen. He called out to the audience for a bass player, guitar player and drum player. When he finally had them he got them on stage and had them play the song while he sang it. Then he told the guitar player to keep the guitar and practice because he sucked. It was so funny and sweet at the same time. Anyhow, the people at the concert pissed me off, but then, when DON'T people piss me off? It was held at the University of Miami, which meant no alcohol was served. I could care less, but the alkies there who can't go ten seconds without a beer were bitching all night. Of course they were selling Red Bull in plastic cups and it looks remarkably like beer so my cousin kept getting stopped by people. "Where did you get the beer?" People are so annoying sometimes. Not to mention the fact that 90 percent of the audience were 12 year olds. Kids who have no idea who this band is except that they like the song American Idiot from the God forsaken radio. Radio is another thing that pisses me off, but that's another rant for another time. So hear I am looking at the audience while the band is playing and I am watching most of the crowd with looks on their face like they are lost. I know it shouldn't bother me, but it does. It always bothered me when somebody would tell me they are a fan of something and they know one song. Like my friend Kelly who tells me she 'loves' Jimmy Buffet. So I am like, well, name some of his songs. Of course the names me three...Volcano, Margaritaville, and Cheeseburger in Paradise. Yes folks...the three songs of his they play on the radio. Don't say you are a fan of something if you don't even know them. I mean that is sort of like me and Radiohead. I like them a lot, but they are hit or miss. I have heard entire albums and I like a few songs off of it. There is one album of theirs that was good all the way through and it was The Bends. So I wouldn't say I am a fan, I would say I like some of their stuff and the other stuff I could do without. Well I know I am probably being a dick thinking this way, but oh well. This is me, take it or leave it.

Re: Green Day Concert
I agree with you totally on claiming you are a fan of something, but only knowing the songs played on the radio.  People do it with my favorite band, Dave Matthews Band, all the time.  Nobody knows Dave's best work.  They just know "Crash" and "Satellite" and "What Would You Say" because they were played on the radio.  That is not the essence of Dave, therefore you aren't really a fan unless you say some other stuff from the albums.  Yeah, it's kind of haughty but oh well.  Radio sucks ass. I never listen to it.

Yeah I never put the radio on at all. I can't listen to a station that plays the same 3 songs by the same people over and over again. Like with classic rock stations, they play the same 3 Rush songs and a handful of Led Zeppelin. I mean Led Zeppelin have dozens and dozens of great songs. And don't even get me started on Sweet Home Alabama...if I never hear that song again for the rest of my life I am fine with it.
