right now we need LEADERSHIP more than anything else..
it needs to go to the Supreme Court..
and it needs to do it now

Ah, yes, get thee to court where anything you haven't been able to sell to the regular folks on at the ballot box can be stuffed down their throats by force. Why won't you just let people decide what kind of country they prefer to live in? I'd be willing, despite my personal feelings, to allow each state decide issues like gay marriage, abortion, school prayer, Christmas celebrations, whatever. Then at least we could allow everyone to vote with their feet. (I wouldn't mind, for example, living in San Francisco, but it's too expensive out there and I couldn't stomach the daily sight of male couples walking their poodles, showing their harry midriffs, and window shopping. It's like being forced to watch someone hack off their own finger).
As far as I'm concerned, the United States was designed from the jump to be a loose collection of independent states guiding themselves for the most part. The feds were supposed to be small, and states--or the people--were to have any powers not specifically assigned to the feds.
If you won't submit your cause to a vote, you must know that most people still find something fundamentally wrong with the gay lifestyle. It's not likely to change soon. Do what you like in private--that's your business. But you don't have the right to compel the public's endorsement of it.
you don't have to endorse anything..
my freedom, liberty, and pursuit of happiness has NOTHING required from YOU
believe me the last thing I want is to emulate the ridiculous system you call marriage..
(what's the failure rate for that?)
I want something better..
better for me
better for my kids..and yours..
are you married to a female? if so..ask her how she feels about her right to vote?
at one time it took the higher reasoning of a pluralistic society to create what we call the Supreme Court..
and if you don't understand it's relevance to everyones definition of civil liberty, you may wish to return to that Civics class that you ditched in High School..
correction;
"I couldn't stomach the daily sight of male couples walking their poodles, showing their harry midriffs, and window shopping."
--you must be thinking of some other place..I know, I was born there
and as for revulsions..
the notion that my life is dictated by someone else's values and ritual belief system disgusts me

Hi Jack, I happen to live just 20 minutes south of San Francisco and I have never seen male couples walking their poodles and showing their harry midriffs while window shopping there. But thanks for the horrible image. It could be worse though, could be doing it in florescent green and pink speedo thongs with ipods plugged in their ears and bug-eyed sunglasses. Now there's an image. ha ha ha
