My most constant musical idol for the past 40 years has been Doc Watson. Got to see him one more time before both of us get too old.

My son, who knows my tastes well, recently bought me a DVD of filmed early performances 1963-1981. I used take my sons to the bluegrass festivals in Carlisle (Ontario) in the 70s. I listened to the music while they collected beer bottles. Both Doc and I lost a son to a vehicle accident in their adult years. Maybe thats one reason I identify with him so much.

Then I discovered that the iTunes music store (Canada version), which originally had only 1 Doc Watson song, had the recent Doc Watson/David Holt 3 cd set called "Legacy" downloadable for $9.99. What a deal. Must have been a mistake, but the kind of mistake I can handle. It has an awful lot of talking, but gives a great insight into Docs history. Did you know, for example, that Doc's son Merle used a Craftsman Socket for his slide guitar work?

Hey *bangs door open and hollers real loud* I just dropped in to say thanks for stopping by for a visit at my blog Boo.

Damn Boo you mean you have never seen anyone use something like a socket to try to get a different tone?
