The basic problem is that documentation should be available in a printed format as well as available electronically from a web site or in the product.

Source Documentation

Source documentation that needs to support print, web and product needs can be generated as XML to the DocBook DTD (Document Type Definition). This provides the information structured by content without specific presentation defined. Today we use structured Framemaker to source all of these documents.

Conversion to Print

Printable documentation is created using the structured Framemaker to create a PDF directly.

Conversion to HTML

This conversion uses the structured Framemaker to create docbook XML and then uses a customized version of Norman Walsh's Modular DocBook Stylesheets to convert to HTML.

Build a Module

The Niagara AX build tools are used to create a module from these HTML files and the JavaHelp TOC.
