Ah something I don't miss. We have this huge lake here (lake murray) everyone crowds to it, we have to go to the other side where Chris's boss lives.
Maybe next year, for just one night, you can take the kids and keep them up late. Let them enjoy the fireworks, and the smell of the ocean. We were out past midnight last night. My little guys loved their first real fireworks at the 1000 Islands, and thought it was pretty awesome seeing all the boats clustered around the castle waiting to see them.
I have to say I'm not a HUGE partypooper. I mean, I have always loved to watch fireworks and I know that when G sees them, he will like them too (if he's not scared of the BOOM!), but the baby is small and the dog is crazy and so I have to err on the side of what's best for my family. At least this year. Because of the rain yesterday, the booms were worse the night before, so I've cooled my jets, so to speak.
Oh, and who can afford to go out on a boat anymore? hahaha. A good number of boats have "FOR SALE" signs on them around here...

I'm surprised G hasn't seen fireworks yet. When my oldest was only 3 months old we were out to see the fireworks with her. We don't do babysitters, so we've never let having kids stop us from doing things. As long as it's kid friendly we go and do as much as we can. Our dogs go crazy from fireworks too, but if we aren't home we don't have to listen to them bark and howl. haha
Oh, we were not on a boat last night. We were up on a hill at the St. Lawrence River watching the fireworks being fired off from Boldt Castle. There were hundreds of boats gathered around the castle, and the tour boats were going back and forth as well.
