Yes, I put the "satire" up there in the tags just so no one shoots me.
The article is written just like an ordinary news article, so I wonder whether anyone actually believed it:
While Bush’s ratings have been in a virtual free-fall in recent months, few political insiders expected him to be trounced by Speaker, who has been accused of exposing airline passengers to tuberculosis.
In serious, actual news: I saw that that the cost of a photo with Bush has dropped from $10,000 to $5000. Adam Smith's "invisible hand" at work. (A joke for the dismal scientists in the house.)
That was a real news story.
Satire again: I saw a headline that Bush and Cheney were not invited to the 2008 GOP convention, but it was just a joke, written as a joke.
What's happening in my own life? Hmm... hmm... I have to get to the airport tomorrow to cash in a free airline ticket voucher that I got in exchange for a sleepless night in Chicago. I'm going to visit one of my oldest friends. It turns out that to go from A (where I live) to B (where she lives), I have to fly through Washington DC, which adds five hours of travel time.
I'm not complaining! It's a free trip! It's a day off! It's my old friend! I'm going to bring a stack of books that I've been waiting to get to. It'll be fun. I kind of like layovers. Nobody can call me or ask me to fix their computer or anything.
