No, We Can't.

barrack obamaReading further through the policies of Obama, I am becoming less convinced that he'll make an acceptable policy maker. My only hope for him would be as a placeholder for four years, anyway, but some of his goals are downright unacceptable:
That's especially true for younger people, the ones supporting him. Do we really want to get ripped off for the rest of our lives for Social Security? Do we really want more urban blight under the auspices of hopeful slogans, a la LBJ's "Great Society" of toxic waste tenement blocks? Do we really want more ethanol smog and a world government?
Can we afford another globalist/socialist? No, we can't. Does his FDR/LBJ/Clinton rhetoric give me hope for "change we can believe in?" No, not hardly.
Obama is committed to ensuring Social Security is solvent and viable for the American people, now and in the future. Obama will be honest with the American people about the long-term solvency of Social Security and the ways we can address the shortfall. Obama will protect Social Security benefits for current and future beneficiaries alike. And he does not believe it is necessary or fair to hardworking seniors to raise the retirement age. Obama is strongly opposed to privatizing Social Security.See, I'm willing to accept Obama as a placeholder until conservatives can unscrew themselves, purge the Bush/McCain "moderate" fascists, and start listening to libertarians again. I'm really mystified by the Obama vanguard, though, because his policies suck, big time.
Obama believes that the first place to look for ways to strengthen Social Security is the payroll tax system. Currently, the Social Security payroll tax applies to only the first $102,000 a worker makes. Obama supports increasing the maximum amount of earnings covered by Social Security and he will work with Congress and the American people to choose a payroll tax reform package that will keep Social Security solvent for at least the next half century. (Source) This is as opposed to my needs to not be ripped off for four decades for something I'll never see. Is Nobama really this naive? I don't want Social inSecurity to succeed. It can only succeed if it rips me off more, as it is a Ponzi scheme, and they only succeed by ripping off more people.

* Create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund: Obama will create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund to develop affordable housing in mixed-income neighborhoods.
* Fully Fund the Community Development Block Grant: Obama will fully fund the Community Development Block Grant program and engage with urban leaders across the country to increase resources to the highest-need Americans.
...
* Establish 20 Promise Neighborhoods: Obama will create 20 Promise Neighborhoods in areas that have high levels of poverty and crime and low levels of student academic achievement in cities across the nation. The Promise Neighborhoods will be modeled after the Harlem Children's Zone, which provides a full network of services, including early childhood education, youth violence prevention efforts and after-school activities, to an entire neighborhood from birth to college. (Source) Jeebus, that sounds a lot like "Compassionate unConservatism." Block grants and "Promise Neighborhoods?" That's great...Promise neighborhoods in hopeless blight. Is this a new "War is peace, poverty is wealth, freedom is slavery" 1984 meme to fight poverty? Calling something full of promise is the dream of an entrepreneur who will "make it so" with sweat and energy, but it is the pipe dream of an official who will spend others' money to fail in the attempt.

* Re-Engage with the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change: The UNFCCC process is the main international forum dedicated to addressing the climate problem and an Obama administration will work constructively within it.
...
* Renewable Fuels: Obama has worked on numerous efforts in the Senate to increase access to and use of renewable fuels. Obama passed legislation with Senator Jim Talent (R-MO) to give gas stations a tax credit for installing E85 ethanol refueling pumps. The tax credit covers 30 percent of the costs of switching one or more traditional petroleum pumps to E85, which is an 85 percent ethanol/15 percent gasoline blend. Obama also sponsored an amendment that became law providing $40 million for commercialization of a combined flexible fuel vehicle/hybrid car within five years. (Source) So, one-world government...I mean FRAMEWORK...and ethanol, which will starve millions and increase urban smog. Eeeek. That sounds like a formula for disaster, and it shows that he's a follower, not a leader.
