So obviously you've caught on to my "scheme." Yes! I am "bringing back" the Best Album poll. I honestly did not think I was going to do it this year with the way MindSay was headed but I figured "Why the hell not?" It IS the reunion tour week.

So here are the details. No more exclusively-made pages throughout the voting process. All the voting is gonna be done right here on my blog. But that is another point at which my unspoken "rules" have undergone a change. It is with the slightest guilty feeling that I announce that no longer is the Best Album poll exclusively a MindSay thing. I toyed with the idea of expanding a few times before but, for the most part, it stayed local. Not anymore. Here's where I'm taking votes:
  • My Facebook
  • Barnes & Noble where I work
  • Of course, here on MindSay
I will probably also be taking votes from friends of mine as well. Basically I really want this to be as big as possible.

But there's one last important change that I think is one for the better:

LISTS

Give me LISTS. I want 1, 5, 10, 20, 40, 50 albums! I don't care how many albums you want to list, just LIST THEM. But here's the catch: You DO have to order them. Don't put too much thought into it (or do, like I tend to). Just list them in order from most to least favorite (relative, of course)! But why in descending order from most to least favorite? Because that's how I will score it! The list with the highest amount of albums sets the top point value allotted for your #1 favorite album. That's it! Easy. For all other lists, I just divide the maximum amount of points amongst each album on your list.  That way each list is weighted evenly regardless of how many albums you choose to list.  And seriously: ANY NUMBER OF ALBUMS (including the old-school option of just one!). Just make sure they all apply to these three basic guidelines:
  1. Every album must have an original release date of 2009. No reissues!
  2. No soundtracks, scores, or compilations (unless every song provided for the compilation was actually written for it).
  3. No short-form releases. That means no singles, no EPs, and no samplers.
And I will check each and every release!

The voting begins immediately. That means GO.

Also, wanna check out each other's lists?  Make a blog entry of your list and then tag it with "my favorite albums".  Just do a quick tag search for "my favorite albums" and take a look!
