I really liked yoga....definitely makes you aware of your body and in my case how messed up it is....but its a LOT harder than you think.....kicked my ass. I was sweating like a maniac. But you stretch muscles you never knew you had and the end is very relaxing....I would recommend giving it a try....I think after a month or two I will definitely be more flexible and stronger.
I am so glad you got a correct diagnosis.. and yes.. they are both very similar with the type of pain... I have true sciatica, but I also know that there is more to it than just that... I really need to have my Dr check this out for me as well. I also know that obterator nerve is just as painful as sciatic.
